Not sure what the future holds for having to wear masks, but if we have to, might as well do it with some style... Any ideas/thoughts on a UCSM BDU pattern mask...? |

Given the era and stuff used in the film anything would have to date circa 1970/1980. The GP-5 would have been a strong possibility: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GP-5_gas_mask THough that would have fallen under the Russian confederation in the universe. The M40 is the modern version: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M40_field_protective_mask This would have been the most likely NATO mask in use during the time: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M17_gas_mask This is one of the MSA variants in current use by the military as of the last time I reserched the subject. With the full bells and windows it is about a 1000 dollar mask: https://us.msasafety.com/Air-Purifying- ... 1700001500 |

Makes your glasses fog up so bad you think your in a horror flick? On one of my cosplays I was looking at getting a vintage pressurized space flight helmet and running AC and filtration through the air hose so I could wear it all day and be safe and cool. Longer term I am hoping folks figure out that is a good way to go on the masks. Make them comfortable and air conditioned to where the environment is not felt by you. As it stands right now the closest you will find to that are air conditioned helmet for motorcycle riders and water cooled vests that are in use by aero space industries and motorcycle riders as well. The comfort factor allows you to wear the protective clothing and not bust a head gasket from over heating in the hotter climates. |

Was about to take my 3m mask that i use for painting n stuff, and make it look similar to the marines face mask in blomkamps aliens concept drawings for alien 5. My armor is hicks design so i already pretend like its a found relic for my character. Maybe the 3m with the large trapezoidal filters on the side can be turned into a modular version is those new marine designs air filter. Paint it brown bess or something and add some blinking LEDs. Hicks himself used an old shotgun and even the predators possessed a flintlock pistol. mixing technology seems fine in the universe if there's a story behind it. |

Given the typical sources of kit used in the film, you would likely want an S6 respirator, or maaaaaaaaaybe an S10 but they'd have been comparatively rare. However, you'd be better off with a more screen-accurate outfit: Attachment:

I thought about that exact thing a decade or so ago, but back then I was paycheck to paycheck & could never get enough cash together to try it. If you do it, I hope it goes well. ![]() Also, ![]() |
