The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi All
Well its been three years of cursing, burnt fingers and one trip to the eyedoctor to get metal out of my eye but my pulse rifle is finally finished! im very pleased how it turned out. Not completely screen accurate but when I saw the movie in 1986 this is how I remember it. I painted the shrouds with Rustoleum flat olive green and like the way it came out. I then weatherd it by scraping all the raised and curved edges to expose the dull aluminum paint that I used under the green and black paint.
The shrouds are from Matsuo as well as the grip, counter, hcg grenade launcher and metal front block. The launcher was customized by me. I added the metal front block kept most of the innards but added two copper pipes where the barrels are supposed to e. The reason for this is so I have a place to keep the stick battery for the airsoft part of the gun. I also added a spring loaded metal trigger as well. Its all still rackable.
The barrel vent was made by me and is 16 gauge steel. I also made the shoulder stock and it is adjustable with 4 detents. Ha a spring loaded pushbutton which releases the stock. The stock is 16 gauge steel as well and you can stand the rifle up on it. Its very strong.
The magazine is metal which I cut to fit and it is still functional. When you slide the mag in the counter lights up. I added a switch so this can be turned off. Counter is static.
Id like to thank everyone here for all their help and support over the last three years especially Matsuo who without his parts this would be just a pile of junk in my garage. Heres pics let me know what you all think and if I can improve anything let me know!
Joe.

Beautiful finish on that one. The wear and tear and little details really sell the look.

Thanks a lot. When I painted it I knew I wanted to weather it but didn't want to over do it. Was trying to give it a used battle worn look.

It looks very clean, so the wear and tear gives it that well used, but well loved feel.

Some PRs are a little 'overdone' on wear and tear... So bad they'd probably be pulled in by a unit Armourer and given a refurbishment... Yours strikes the balance - nice.

I appreciate the positive comments. It was a very challenging build right from the start. A big thanks to Bug Stomper for posting the Barrel vent and Stock blueprints couldn't have done it without those. Learned a lot of new metal working skills as well.!

That's the nice thing about prop making: there's always something new to learn. Working with differend materials, with electronics, inks paints and font styles - you name it.

Cheers,
Stefan

Haha, Matsuo make nothing..., u can pay stuff, and then u hear nothing from him for years...
And if u get ur stuff, that’s written in an other history book..
(I for my self wait now 2 years for a fucking shoulder lamp, and I give it up to ever get it..., and I know people how waiting way more years.., and hear nothing from him....)

Edit: Ah, one of those Necroposts..., I forget to look at the date..., maybe he was better those days...
