The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

This is an older article but apparently they are trying to replicate the setup Jesse Ventura had in Predator...

US Seals did this in Vietnam [with M60s]. I think it's more correct to say the Predator backpack was trying to replicate those ;)

A solider still has to hump it, and until they get power supplies figured out for untethered exo-suits, it's not worth the trouble.

They are testing an exosuit now with DARPA that runs on an 8 hour battery.

The issue with the m134a was that ammo feeding was problematic as it could burn through rounds with reckless abandon and you needed to have multiple cans linked to ensure sufficient ammo.

Having experience with DARPA and military projects, when they do a cost/benefit analysis and find out it's cheaper to just pay a few more guys to hump gear, they're going to mothball exosuits until the power supplies are far better.

Until that stuff hits private industry and it causes issues with opposing mercenary forces to out do our forces...
