Post subject:  Finally Found a Seiko S234-501A!
I had almost given up hope of ever finding the correct US Colonial Marine watch, the elusive Seiko S234-501A. I had an eBay favorite search set up for some time now and just a few days ago stumbled across an auction for one. I put in a bid and actually won the watch at a reasonable price. I still can't believe other's didn't bid this thing through the roof. Sometimes we all get lucky, I guess. Now, I just need to source the proper strap for it and figure out how to set the time on the darn thing. Lol!

Was it the buy it now for 140.00? You do not know how many times I almost hit buy it now. I was telling the guys about how I cannot believe someone hasn't gotten it for that price. I just wanted it for the sensor pads.

I was also looking at that on ebay haha! you got a deal for sure. looks mint!
I saw one for 600 bucks buy it now but last I looked was only one bidder at 99 bucks.
Awww shit , now I want one. this is how it starts...

This has been a crazy year for me with Aliens props. I finally got around to building my 10 hole vent, hero pulse rifle. Much more to come on that project as it is a special one. ;)

I am also collecting parts to build a mostly metal M240 incinerator unit.

I have an Aliens prop disease. ;)

That watch just screams "80s high tech". I would have to wear it every day until its all worn down. Which is why i shouldnt get one.
I should probably just get one of those nintendo super mario world watches and see how that goes first.
I wonder if fan reproductions of these could ever be made. Probably couldnt reproduce the chip but given how far the Legacy members have come with prop making it seems possible. congrats man! Also would be kind of cool to start a thread just for people who have these and the yellow button versions, maybe figure out how many were ever produced ect. although im sure there are watch forums that probably have that covered. Anyone got resing castings?

Once you have a search set up, they pop up with extreme regularity. $102 isn't bad at all if there's nothing wrong with it. Congrats! Normally they're listed between $350-$850.

I have both the yellow button version and the black button version, I got each for $40 CAD which was an absolute steal, however they were both listed as for parts - not working. The yellow button one had missing segments on the display and the black one just needed some TLC. I had both restored professionally by a friend. I wish I had a set of the sensors!

Thanks for the manual. I managed to figure out how to set the date and time. Ya, the one I bought is near mint. It has one small scratch on the pulse button but other than that it is mint.

Yep. I've also spotted the sensors in the Operation Theatre on the table where Newt pins the facehugger by the tail :shock: :wink:

That's common, and not an issue at all. If you want to use the pulse function you'll need a strap that leaves the rear open. Noble's straps are accurate but they cover the rear. The metal case-back has to touch your skin to take your pulse. I'm going to try alter my Noble strap and make some 2 piece straps so it will look basically the same while on my wrist, but be more like a traditional strap.

Hmmmmm...mine seems to work OK through the band.... At least, it registers what looks to be about the appropriate pulse, while wearing the band and just touching the finger sensor. Both the black button and yellow button versions I have.

That's a different model. They look similar but there's several differences. The pulse button is larger, the side buttons are spread down the body further and it says Alarm Chronograph on the top right.

The S234s have an indentation where the side buttons sit higher up the body, there's no text on the top right and the pulse button is smaller/more rectangular.
