I got mine yesterday. I see facebook is all over this thing, but can't believe it isn't a bigger deal on here! It is a creation of our very own member! (and help from at least one other I a know about!) This thing is AMAZING. I am going to have a hard time not cutting pages out to frame them. Attachment: Attachment:

DO WANT. There's also talk about "The Making of Aliens," from J. W. Rinzler, over on AvPGalaxy. Not a huge surprise since he just did "The Making of Alien," but it certainly feels like Aliens has been overshadowed by Alien's 40th anniversary. |

The book is amazing. The only reason why it is not discussed here I can think of is that it is in lenght discussed in social media and Amazon (DE, UK, +?) has no stock yet (may take until end of October for Amazon UK). I got mine via local book store from Titan Books on Monday. |

it says ALIEN but it has stuff from "aliens" also. Im seeing it for 35 bucks on ebay, Ill probably get it. Im curious about the licensing of the blueprints. there were some pretty well known people on these designs. I wonder if these blueprints are the ones that they made or if they hired artists to make blueprins to put in this book, based on the drawings to avoid having to pay the original artists. |

No, I was the only one hired to do the blueprint art from the book. It's pretty hard to do a blueprint without referring to the concept art or sets created or made for the movie. The Nostromo for instance did not have a blueprint they followed to build the ship exterior models. They worked from concept art by Ron Cobb, so I had to draw the exterior blueprint from scratch. |

I just ordered my copy - can't wait to see it! As I'm typing this from my office at home I'm looking up at the Nostromo blueprint too! Harry |

It's beautiful layout. The foldouts really sell it. |

I don't get this statement - when you work on a movie it's all work for hire. The original draftsmen were paid for the services, and the "rights" to that material becomes property of the studio. |

Completely correct, I had a pretty fruitless talk recently with a movie armorer who claimed that he both designed and owns the rights to SST Morita. Both of those statements were false. |

Just of curiousity, was the art made by mesuring models or just original sources photos? I expect that no interviews with perspectives of Mead, Cobb, Cameron etc. was made, but tech was invented by some fan level narrator as in some other of these books. Basically its just another comic franchise art book and no movie book, right? /Jonsey |

Issue is that Rinzler only did the book on Alien as he was a big fan of it. He basically know nothing about Aliens. Aliens seems also to be a much more modern, controlled production, under the tight rains of Cameron in comparison to the 70’s shake n’ bake productions, as such there is not that much of controversies and exclusive story development to be publicised. Id love to see one myself, dearly, but I understand if they hesitate. /Jonsey |

Some I did, such as Martin Bower, Dennis Lowe and Steve Burg. As for quality of art and writing, all I can say is that you'll need to find an online review or buy a copy to form your own judgement. |

I just got my copy in-hand and it is phenomenal. My interest drops off completely after the Alien3 section, but Graham did his due diligence on the later films, including a pullout schematic of the Covenant. There are a lot surprising topics covered and I can't wait to dig in deeper. |
