The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey everyone, im looking for the best possible way to attach the armor to the front of the stedi-cam rig? Ive looked at a lot of photos and they don't show that part of the rig so what has everyone done to have a nice secure connection?

For me, I have some home-brew fiberglass plates. On my vest, I used Velcro to attach a block of wood. On the wood...more Velcro!

Not very fancy, but gets the job done securely. The block of wood also doubles as an easy point I can drill or attach more velcro to hold the applicable wrenches for adjstments. I can also run my wires from the gun or headset into it. Anything you can drill a hole for stores neatly.

Nice, did you Velcro the wood to the vest?

Like Bigbisont I used a wooden block, initially also with velcro but that came loose quickly so now I use magnets. They're hotglued to the chestplate and attach to screws in the wood. For the two smaller plates I use metal plates that attach to magnets sewn in fabric bands (shoe laces) on the vest. Works pretty well so far.

Yes, the wood is also similarly velcro'd from vest to block. I got some of the super heavy duty stuff from the craft section at walmart. I did reinforce the connection with a staple gun through the velcro to the wood block at the corners for extra 'grab'. Its all been pretty secure.

Second that velcro and magnets do the trick.
In the past my chest plate was not directly attached to the operators vest.
Plan is to use the v-shape hook like the one used on the GB trap for easy on/off.
Would be great to see what others have done.

I will probably attach mine with screws once I get things sorted. I would hide them under some decoration or have them painted the same flat color.

Mine is attached with 2 nylon webbing straps, to the top of the shoulders of my steadicam vest, and just hangs from there.
Works well enough!
