The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Does anyone here use pen cameras or something similar on their helmets?

I am still trying to prototype and build a fascimile functional setup.

Go pros are too big.

Edmund optics seems to be a good sources for lenses and adapters.

The kicker I am having is adapting the raspberry pi camera to m12 to c-clip lens sizes which gets you to about an 18mm lens size and the pentax is 18.5mm. (please correct me on the sizes if I am wrong I just woke up and the coffee has not kicked in yet.)

The kicker is to find a modern varifocal lens that works with everything (varifocal = auto focusing)

I am suspecting R&D costs alone are going to cost me close to 2k in wrong parts before I find the correct ones. In my favor is the fact that all the homeland security issues has really cheapened optics and camera costs versus what they were 30 years ago.

try "mobius" action cams. I have one I'd trade for Aliens stuff theyre open source and tiny. could lose the housing and put it into the helmet cam. might even fit inside as-is
