The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That´s a nice pet!

While browsing my local thrift store I stumbled upon a large clear plastic tube. Priced only $6.00 ! I couldn´t leave it behind.
So I guess I´m building a facehugger stasis tube now.
The facehugger is a cheap Thai recast kit from Ebay, cheap but good (enough) quality vinyl and detailed, it needs some more weathering.
I coiled the tailparts with a heatgun, inserted a metal wire to prevent droopping over time and glued the parts together with superglue.
Will post more pics when finished.

That tube looks to be pretty close to the right dimensions, nice find!

Some progress pics. With my homemade routerjig (saw a tutorial on youtube) I made perfectly round discs.
Using a fluorescent round tubelight now, for the bleak eighties lighting, but the adapter gets very hot, so I will probably replace it with LED.

What would you say is the thickness of the wall of the tube...thick enough that the whole thing could be filled with water?

Finished :D

switched the fluorescent lamp out for an LED version. Sheet metal bend around a wooden frame. Wooden top and bottom lids, and one transparant disc, all made with a router. The plastic came from a lcd screen which also had several sheets of thin plastic which came in great use as filter for the bright light.
I had a turntable (lazy susan style) from an old dispay that fit just underneat, so it can be rotated.

I would be thick enough to fil with water, provided the bottom is glued/caulked. But it would make it very heavy.

Outer diameter:30 centimer
Inner diameter 29 cm.
Wall thickness 5 mm inner.
Height: 88.5 cm
Weight: 10 kilogram
Building time tube: two weeks on and off.

I have made the 3 rods and bolts for the side but they didn't came out as nice as I wanted (wood instead of plastic/metal) Some goes for the round bend at the top. I haven't thought up yet how to make those parts.
Oh and maybe suspend the facehugger in the tube with fishing wire.

Great build and display with the M56A2 operator.
