The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all,
Can you tell me the colours used for the different parts of Hicks's shogun ?
Grip :
Fore-end :
Receiver :
Barrel + magazine :

A few years ago I bought a replica (full black) and I have decided to give it a paint job!
Thanks

Grip - Black duct tape
Foreend - Weathered wood (dark brown)
Reciever/barrel/magazine - "Blued" steel. So pretty dark gray/black.

The most recent pics of it came from the 'propstore' I believe. The tape was removed from the grip and the finish on the metal parts looks a bit worn out, so it looks pretty bright. But it was originally dark 'blued' steel and in the film it is certainly not bright.

Thanks!
Now let's look for the correct paints.

Here's that Propstore pic:

And a pic from the BTS of the Alien Quadrilogy dvd:

So this shows the entire grip and end section covered in black tape. This was probably done to conceal the fact they replaced the Ithaca grip with an MP-40 smg grip.

Hope this helps.

Kevin

Thank you Kevin. But which one is the correct one? Because the one that I received looks more like the second one as there is no hole in the grip.

They are the same grip, but the hole is covered by tape on screen. In the prop-store pic the tape has simply been removed revealing the mp40 grip.

This was how I did mine using a cheap airsoft mp40 (then just add tape)

I made the display myself but I cannot decide the colour.

Any suggestion is greatly appreciated as for the gun or the display.

Try a metal grid for the base, then a secreted resin look for the upstand parts, maybe out of papier mache? :)
