A few years ago I bought a cheap (£20) airsoft MP40 with the intention of converting it into the weapon used in the film Iron Sky but never got around to it. Fast forward to a couple of weeks ago and the surplus store I frequent had a lot of cheap airsoft guns, including a compact Remington 870 that I decided I could convert to the Ithaca carried by Hicks.
I needed to extend the barrel and magazine using plastic pipe and I've built a new pump grip from balsa wood. At the rear of the gun I've replaced the Remington stock with the MP40 grip and stock mount as well as cutting away some of the body to be replaced with balsa wood.
Still to do is to join the magazine and barrel to each other and the body, build a slide arm, build a foresight and cover the holes at the back and the Remington ejection port.
The pictures show the project so far next to a deactivated Ithaca I'm using for reference.
