Post subject:  Fluid sample case

I've had this idea rolling around inside my thick skull for a few years now, and finally got around to making it. I wanted an item to use for display that contained several samples of Xeno DNA for transport to a W-Y lab. It started with glass vials with screw on lids. I made some glue based slime with 4 parts sickly yellow and 2 parts of some nasty green I found, then modified/detailed some PVC caps to fit the vials (yay for having my own machine lathe). Then I had to design and build a case to fit it all, featuring a back lit, labeled panel.

Anyway, here it is…

Each vial has a label with the information filled in by hand.

Here is what the backdrop panel looks like.

The vials were purchased at a local craft store and the case was originally a poker chip case, which I disassembled and repurposed, replacing the siding with some 1/8" ABS that I used to use to make armor back when I was a mando and gave a crap about star wars. The "glass" (including the backdrop piece) are some plexi I've had had laying around for a couple years.

This is excellent, I can totally see "Ash' using something like this during the events in the first movie having gotten some from the dead facehugger.
