I agree with you, however, first you have to find the crimps, which these folks sell very cheaply. And the ends which these folks also sell. Something I have not found until I found these folks.
My only contention is that with automated machine crimped wires, you have a better connection and more reliable wiring. Manually crimped wires are prone to issues and failure.
Also all of my write ups utilize off the shelf items so that any person of any skill level can make items themselves.
I also agree with you that crimping is an easy matter. Unfortunately at the smaller sizes it can be fun to get it just right and reliable.
