The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey guys, does anyone have any decent shots of Vasquez's pistol harness or is familiar with its pattern? I am stumped on whether the sling part attaches to the belt or loops under. Any light shed on this is appreciated.

I have a replica but I don't have it to hand right now. Once I can get to it, and if I remember, I'll take some photos for you. Sorry I can't be more helpful than that at the moment.

Harry

I am actually trying to upgrade my wife's rig right now as well.

These are the best images I can find to use as reference.

It looks like it is sewn to the belt, but with the care they put into everything else with the hardware to make the top strap adjustable, it seems like a waste to sew it directly to the belt where it can't be adjusted side to side. That is how it looks to me though...so I'll probably end up sewing it in place at the bottom.

Bigbisont, this is for my missus too! It is the getting a clear view from the front where it attaches under the pistol, there's always side boob or holster in the way. Judging the back shot it looks like a sling with the clips cut off and sewn into the belt. The belt looks like a modded sling with the same belt clip we use for our armour belt. Hopefully Harry sheds some definitive light on this BC I am going to butcher 2 Noble straps to do it so it has to be as spot on as possible.

Well here is the one I just finished. I am pretty confident in the way I have sewn it and believe it to be correct. Even though the front connection is never seen, it stands to reason the back is sewn, so the front almost certainly would be too. The keys are making all the contact points on the left hip area on solid webbing. The adjustable (doubled up, sliding) webbing on the belt needs to be on the right hip away from the permanent connections.

I also have faith my hardware choices are accurate, but the holster itself is just "close enough". I know it isn't perfect. Funny enough, if you look at the actual holster, it doesn't even cover the trigger. There isn't much contact from the bottom of the holster to keep the pistol from falling out!

Anyways, this is mine until new info comes to light.

Cheers mate that's a big help, jealous of the pistol. there are none of those in Oz but I have a close enough cheapy resprayed. Pretty much what you have shown is the route we're heading so that is reassuring.

Both sides are just cut at an angle and stitched into the inside at an angle.

Crazy right? Like Ripley's 'newt rescue' webbing. 98% of the time they do both look black on screen, but green they were.
Once you get them dirty/weathered and sweaty (wet), they darken up quite a bit. Low light and blue filter on top? Dang near black.

Classic case of "do you want your replica to be how it looked on screen? Or how the prop was built?"

Nice work!
Also, never noticed that Ripley's combo weapon sling isn't a standard PR sling!

The sling actually is normal. The black strapping seen there is her grenade bandoleer (like the one Gorman wore in the ops battle/vents).

Now regarding oddball slings, take a look at Vaz's motion tracker in the "Hudson may be right" scene. It only has 4 bars in the pattern! There are a few publicity shots with Hicks having a 4-bar on his pulse, but I didn't notice any on screen until poking around this topic yesterday.

Ah, I'm a muppet, I was looking at Ripley's grenade harness (in the last posted pic) & thinking that was the weapon sling. Doh!
