The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

What do we need to hand out or give away at conventions where we have gotten fan tables?

Business cards?

cozy's if they sign up?

Brochures?

What should the business card or brochure have on it?

What should it look like?

Years ago they would hand out fake "enlistment" forms...I think info for the forum was on it somewhere.

The forms etc. have been stored in a Table.zip file that still should be here somewhere.

I would suggest to include on a small flyer
a) mostly a catchy graphic
b) the AL URL and the banner logo
c) reference to facebook page if its is done by a local group
d) A (very) small introduction to the AL forum

Suggest to contact Mantroon regardings logo desings etc.

Shout if you need help.

All great ideas. In all honesty we need one standard card as we want international and national recognition and as such any designs would be approved by the group as a whole. Regardless we leave a spot for local groups to apply their custom banner. I think the card would be business card sized. Would have graphics on both sides. Would contain a QR Code for registering on AL, and another for Enlisting. We already have the rules stickied and the relevant information stickied as well. We just need to make sure we are uniform in our presentation.

i'll have to see if i have any of our old cards, they had a QR code on them which would play a small recruitment video.

Good idea. I do not intend to re-invent the wheel if someone already has. Plus I prefer to have community input and buy in on whatever we go with.

I made a business card with two codes one for the AL forum URL and one for the youtube enlistment video.
The picture of the front of the card shows the old design without the new deltas.

No need to Sir me. I work for my living. :)

Here are the QR codes. The rest would need to be updated with the new deltas.

"AL Recruitment card front blank.png"

Is that the one I did? LOL, I've been meaning to make a new one with current deltas. I think I resorted to using MS Paint that time because my PC crashed and I didn't have my editing software installed yet. I was also in a rush to get them ordered in time for the Calgary Aliens Exposed show lol. Truth be told, I was hoping someone would beat me to it with a neater approach, much like yours Frank! Beautiful graphic!

Yes, it sure is Melissa. :-) Thanks, again.
We actual did a run with your design. Hope you remember this.
The later Design came from Paul and the GERCM Design was done by Felix.
Let it by Paul's Design or the calssic Banner Design as long as it has a good reference to the US. C. Marines we should be good.
If I had all Deltas I would have done a run with a new Design.

Out of curiosity - as it's something I've thought about myself a few times but never really pursued - how much do you tend to find it costs to hire a table?

I'm sure someone will be along with a definitive answer soon but I don't believe we pay anything for the table at LFCC.

depends on the con. some just give free tables to fan groups, some charge you half or full for the table.

If the country’s local AL members can get enough members to attend, some event organisers let us have a table/tables/area for free, sometimes with free entry wristbands.

Check the UKCM Drops forum for future events or post one yourself to see if anyone else wants to attend:

Most of those are meant for multiple printing as handouts, but if you want to make them into a personal folder, go ahead. :)

OK, my trifold I made for the Aliens Cast Reunion event seemed to be extremely popular with folks. I have the Raw PSD.

I think we can make it generic. I would need group input now what images and other text would help.

Offhand I could add every movie release date on AVP, Alien, and Predator film. Yes Aliens is the bomb and the only movie most would only recognize, but we have to be cognizant of the universe and try to include as many outlying interested folks as possible.

I think the idea of a trifold is good, however, I feel that anything handed out with the Aliens: Legacy information on it needs a) to be with the approved consensus of folks on this board; b) be reflective of the overall approved design approach - whatever that is - of what we generally want to hand out; and c) though the idea of including the other movies '79 through '17 and somehow finding a way to encompass them so folks don't come away with the thought it is just 'Aliens' is one I support, I feel other information that does not pertain specifically to the movies and the forum should not be included. Just my two cents.

Hence the question. That is part of my ministry outreach so the design is unique to me. I adapted the brochure to fit the convention need overnight literally. The thought was alter it a little as when we go interstellar the need for ministry will be even greater then. Though in our groups case the ministry will be on bullet tip point at a time.

I could leave the phone number and address fields blank and white, and whomever can fill out with the regular meeting place for the group and contact information.

Now this trifold is unique: It WILL fit in your wallet when folded.

Now next question, what do we all use for a standard backdrop? Do we have a special backdrop we use for charity fund raising shoot the Xeno, predator, marine, etc. Charity fund raising is another great way to raise group awareness.

I think the best approach is to consider separate resources for information/recruitment and for sub-projects (such as local events, in-character theming, etc).

We could produce a centralised info/recruiting leaflet and also a basic set of branding guidelines (logotype, colour pallet, layout) to allow for local creations, which will maintain a consistent brand across all resources - so that "The Aliens Legacy" is clear as the central focus no matter where the leaflets are given out or by which local groups.
These can be "themed" but should be grounded in the real world i.e. they explain to people what we actually do as members of the legacy and how they can get involved.

Additional "in-character" resources such as an "interstellar mission" are great fun and contribute to the novelty and character of our attendance at Conventions etc. With people portraying Marines, Scientists, Colonists, Missionaries, etc there is much scope to be creative with those.

Though, in my opinion, trying to combine both approaches into one document makes it a little confusing.

Great input. What would you recommend change wording wise on the pamplet? I can make it generic. What pictures would you like to change to? The format of the brochure itself allows for a load of condensed information.

Honestly the brochures have been a hit at both fan table events I have been at. This time around the question occured to me, what can I DO to make this better and make it work for EVERYONE.
