The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

http://www.alchemyarms.com/SearchResult ... earch=uscm

and my mk11 flight suit that is coming from eBay

i have my own black lace up boots that i can use as well is this enough for a basic pilot?

i think im on the right track with the above parts apart from the vest and the pilot

there are no exact requirements. we are not like the 501st where we have a CRL and basic levels of costume approval. from what you've gathered so far, all you need is a service number, some thread to sew your patches on, and then you are ready to troop with the AUCM at cons. uniform regulations are only required for special events. (like helping SEGA out a few years ago with their Aliens games)

Both Spunkmeyer and Ferro wore flak vests in the film. If you keep your eyes peeled you'll sometimes find cheap Israeli clones that look the same but are far cheaper than the real deal U.S. ones. Also Spunkmeyer sported a baseball cap with a CAT logo during the breakfast scene. Something like that (with whatever patch you wanted) would be an inexpensive alternative until you get a helmet sorted.

Best of luck!

I second the CAT hat. Not necessary, but does help flesh out the outfit a bit more if you don't have a vest and/or helmet.

Years and years ago, I didn't even have that! Flightsuit with patches, a scratch built headset that wasn't anywhere near accurate and a black baseball cap with scrambled eggs and a Lt. bar, driving gloves and a pulse rifle.

As has been previously mentioned, We operate a little differently than groups like the 501st.
While we strive for "screen accuracy" we're not slaves to it. You won't be kicked out for not using
an authentic, vintage flak vest instead of the cheaper and easier to find Israeli version. :)

Enjoy your build, and please share photos when it's done!

As of right now, I don't think there are any club shirts in production.

Also, when you've posted a bit more you'll get access to the PX (our sales section) where you might find some of what you need. So keep posting your progress! I did a Dropship pilot (see the link in my sig) and it was really fun. I even wore it to my work on Halloween one year.

Good to see anpther bus driver. I loiooked at the SoF flacket jacket when I was getting my kit together first of all, I got steered to the isreali Flak Jacket cover for a lot less money.

https://www.ebay.ie/itm/Genuine-Militar ... :rk:6:pf:0

There are probably more around.

Dont drive yourself too crazy with the badge placement, Ferro and Spunkmeyer have it in different places on their left torso

Chef creations is a good source for replica Racal headsets, VP70 and holster.

At the end of the day though, this is about what you want to do with it. And whatever you do should make you happy.

Well put. I usually add make any inaccurate thing or issue with the costume yours, give a back story. Make it YOURS. Doing that is what makes cosplay fun. Too big for one of those skimpy costumes, just give some funny story about how the dry cleaner shrunk the suit on you.

If you want a really fun conversation find a local fighter pilot and ask for their opinion on what it should look like. You could do the same with a cold war or vietnam historian as well. Learning in cosplay is as much if not more fun than building and wearing the costume itself. That knowledge helps you explain things in a far greater depth than you could have before.

Short answer is just make it fun, YOUR way. We are not here to judge, but to encourage.

prop was brown bess. (of course if you want how it 'looked' on screen, OD is perfectly cool)

Yes, it is your build. To qoute from prev. statements:
" ... While we strive for "screen accuracy" we're not slaves to it. ... Enjoy your build,"

The http://www.colonialmarines.info/files/alienscosplayguide.pdf Guide is ment as help not as mandatory to be part of the fun.

Yup, wot he said. :)
FYI though, I think those A:CM patches are a bit small, compared to the SA jobbies (and the delta is blue instead of black).

Hey hey :)

Alchemy Arms are still going and a good place for patches. If you're looking at including the Victory by Wing patch, note AA's one doesn't have the screen accurate black border. This ebay seller has the correct (well, more correct) patch - ALIEN VICTORY BY WINGS 4" PATCH. They also sell a 3.5" patch, but that's too small.

Re your helmet link - I could only find football helmets, were you thinking of modifying one of those? Given, you're in Oz, and I think that store is US-based, shipping might be a killer.
Better looking on ebay.com.au, I had 5-min troll-about and found the following, nothing perfect, but might help -

not awesome, but on par with the football helmet in terms of work
closer but three times the cost ... (and I'd double check with the seller that it is the full helmet, not just the maxillo face shield, or something dumb like that).
