How much would one of those builds set one back?

Hardest part on mine was trimming the visor knob flanges down from four to two. I cut my fingers into a bloody mess for a detail most folks wouldn't even notice. Such is life!

That's a neat stand! did you mod an existing stand with a sticker of some sort or did you make it from scratch?

What Neil wrote great work! As always a great light weathering.
I would surely be happy to have such a helmet myself.

Anyone looking for the helmet parts set, contact Stephen210.

Since photobucket started charging, most of my old picts are down.

I can re-post my build picts soon.

Nice to see some more DS helmet builds!

Sadly(?) this detail slipped my notice until the helmet was boxed up and ready for the post. Is it a full metal part?

The stand is actually a toilet roll holder from a local shop which I added a rubber dome casting to the top off so the helmet sits securely on top, painted black and added a spare decal I had to the base which just happened to be the perfect size.

Thanks Stimpy! The greebles were resin casts supplied by the client. Believe they were cast by stephen210.

The visor knob is just really hard plastic. It isn't a huge deal but maybe it can be unscrewed? I can check mine.

I never would have thought that was a toilet roll holder. Really smart idea man!

Time to de-lurk here then. Yep, I am the more-than-happy customer here.

I am fully aware that it isn`t 100% screen accurate (the knob, the brown leather pieces (still pondering wheter to dye them olive), etc..
I am quite happy though that I have managed not to fall into the it-has-to-be-peeeerfect-trap with my props so far.

I really could not be happier with NickĀ“s stellar work here.

I also saw this build on FB! I can't stop looking at the pictures of this helmet! I actually like the brown leather pieces and I did not notice the knob, even thou I'm aware of the "screen accurate" helmet. Fantastic work of art!

I also like that it's not 100% screen accurate, it's so nicely finished that SA doesn't really matter too much [imho].
That said, if SA is what you're going for, I've had good results with TRG Colour Dye for leather, canvas & vinyl.

The helmet absolutely looks fantastic, I didn't mean to detract by mentioning the knob.
