The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Curious, has anyone on here designed, or thought of designing a dress uniform for officers and enlisted soldiers on here? I'm guessing that keeping with the mid/late 22nd century era fashion, the tan, or dark green jacket would include the Burke Carter turned up collar. I shall draw and share how I imagine it to look on here soon enough. :delta:

I think most of the dress is based upon vietnam and nato 70s era uniforms.

I know they didn't make any for the film. I was refering to any of us cosplayers for appropriate formal scenarios. It's quite possible to do. I'm asking if it HAS been done or discussed on here? Additionally, since it's not seen in the film, there is much more freedom to design it from scratch using modern uniforms even.

Hey William,

before you make an Extended Universe dress uniform I would spend some time using the search engine. "Dress Blues" brings up quite a few relevant threads (and the discussions that went with them).

In particular, please scroll down and read Sgt. Burton's account of wearing his EU dress uniform to an event:

This is precisely why I asked if this topic had been brought up on the forum. I just finished reading the link. I hadn't considered what was brought up in it. Thanks for the heads up. I'm throwing this idea in the trash bin. 8) :delta:

I'm a big fan of EU and extrapolation, but this is an area that risks veering into Walter Mitty territory.

Dress uniform? Or service uniform? Because the dress uniform was the province of Rex Adams AKA Hollis DZC. I can help you with the service uniform.

I did the Dress Blues uniform several seasons ago.

I took a USMC tunic and turned it into a USCM tunic by:

Removing all the EGA buttons and replacing them with plain "brass" ones from JoAnn's Fabrics.

Added Delta pins to the collar.

Had custom red / gold "Gunny Sgt." patches made.

Added the Screaming Eagle patch. The Ship patch.

Added our USCM ribbons, medals, etc.

In addition, took the blood stripes off the blue pants and sewed them to black slacks.

Used the Screaming Eagle Challenge coin on the cover (white dress hat)

And it was still mistaken by the Public for an official USMC Dress uniform. sigh...

Alas No accounting for the Public skills of Observation hahaha

The amount of times Colonial Marines got called "STARSHIP TROOPERS" or Tie Pilots called "Darth Vader".
