The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I'm hoping this thread will be the "sister" to the wonderful Prop Identification thread found here: viewtopic.php?f=3&t=15162

The only difference is this thread is dedicated to SET DRESSING items.

I've already identified (with help!) a lot of items in MedLab as well as Operations, and I hope to share those soon. But for now, I'm calling on other hawk eyed fans to help with some of the items I've been struggling with. I promise this thread will turn into a resource, but for now, I need help so it's more of a request :delta:

Here's a couple things I can show however:

Identified:

Xerox Alto mainframe cabinets

These are in Operations on the raised area under a desk

Unidentified:

Stasis Tube Stand

Calling back to recent posts in the NECA thread, regarding the "stand" that the stasis tubes are on, I think that is a worthy item to kick off this thread.

Top Left is from overhead in the APC hanging "upside down", the other three are "right side up" under stasis tubes in the Stasis Room and MedLab

My Mom (is awesome) thinks that the two circular "holes" on the inside laying flat could be pressure gauges. We can see it has valve style knobs on two of the sides. The curly cable could be to some remote or power source. There is also a straight cable too. Thoughts?

---------------------------------------------------------------

Unknown Ops Terminal PC

There's a monitor and keyboard often paired together throughout Operations and is also seen in the offices Hicks and Drake investigate. It appears as if it may be placed upside down with a film graphic laid over the screen. The keyboard appears to be the front key panel from a Schlumberger 1250 Frequency Response Analyser (which was used in several areas throughout). The "base" of the keyboard is still unknown. Below is a compilation of all of the images I have:

The keyboard looks something like an old Commodore keyboard with the keys replaced with plastic sheet.

That is an interesting possibility. It does look backlit in the shot with Lydecker, unless that ia just a printed graphic?

I think I've found "middle ground" between backlit/printed keyboard!

Several test equipment units were used in throughout the film, and some designs of these were recreated for use on the main Ops console as well to appear backlit. I'm positive I've ID'd the keys, but the body is still a mystery. It is similar to the Commodore 64 but it appears thinner than the Commodore 64.

I've nearly finished identifying all of the test equipment units used throughout the film, I just have to compile them all according to where they appear.

As for the stasis tube base - to me it looks somewhat like (the internals of) an old stereoscopic slide viewer/projector.
The part with the rounded edge would then contain the light source, the two 45 degree planes would be mirrors and the two round openings are the projector outputs.

Could be from something like this:

or this:

or something completely differend ... ;o)

Cheers,
Stefan

In some of the Med Lab scenes you can see something hanging down from the ceiling that looks like a "scope" of some sort. Harry identified this as being a Shockwave Transformer toy. Sorry I don't have a screen-cap to back this up, but here's an image from the net...

Nice! I didn't know that :) Thanks!

But I did locate it after reading this, in the Medlab Operation Theater, hanging above the AutoDoc
