The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Post subject: Yellow and Black Caution Barrier / Set Design

Hi all,

Would anyone be able to suggest a good source for a Yellow and Black Caution Barrier that's used as set dressing in the colony corridors in Aliens (like in the photo attached)?

I'm looking to add something to my home theatre and I totally associate caution barriers to the Alien universe and would love the feel of it in the background complementing my aliens display.

I know you can get rolls of caution tape but I'm looking for something with more substance.

Like a hardened version like on metal or something. That I can screw on to the wall maybe.

Hope someone can help!

Thank you!

It might be easier and cheaper if you made one yourself, is that an option?

It looks like caution tape stuck to something else, strip metal or something.
You can get a tougher version of the caution tape that is still adhesive but is more durable; it's used for floor applications where you don't want people walking beyond a certain point.

We have some printed caution foam padding at work (on low headroom areas), it's pretty rugged but probably not polished enough for what you're after. Was googling for pics of this and did see things like "Rubber Corner Protector" & "Corner Guard" which might be more helpful / suitable ...

Getting great advice here.

Thinking of hopping over to the UK next week, to Madame Tusauds wax museum in London.

See what they used for the set of their Alien Covenant experience.

Let's call it research ☺

While I'm at it, has anyone ever figured out the make of revolving Amber warning lights that are used in Aliens?

Those are silent sirens. Typical on construction equipment and contractor conveyances.

The lights on the Sulaco are unique though in that the light is stationary and a mirror turns on top to reflect the light. The guys from the GERCM were making a replica I believe.

Hawkins made the rotating warning light for the Sulaco hangar (see the "Home Improvement" topic).
