I personally think the two are separate entities, but that's just my opinion. I also personally loath that the WY logo is constantly being slapped on everything related to the USCM.
I could concede that WY makes a lot of the weapons, but that's all they are, a company that makes stuff.
They do not own and run the military.
I second that, I think when the wey-yu logo is spotted subtly around something thats going on it sort off speaks to that conspiracy theory. As if the corporation is so rich and big that it pulls the strings in govt. and its just something that people suspect. wey yu in the movies seemed like something where you see the name in the tiny fine print on some work order and go "hmmmmmmm, something fishy goin on here?"
in alien resurection special edition they even say wey-yu was "bought out by wal-mart" which suggest that same kind of corporate influence vibe. In alien 3 we see that white suited soldier ,"wey-yu" soldier, but even that may just be a mercenary. wearing a white suit... so maybe it suggests a lab environment, like these guys defend lab operations, metal face grill to protect from facehuggers and thick acid proof armor.
But I like to think that wey-yu has no public affiliation to the working military staff. that they just picked up the phone and said " give us some expendable grunts", and they had that kind of pull in govt. Hudson cause he was getting out soon anyway, hicks because he was too smart and had no other ties or family and was a "lifer" and so on.
I could imagine though, the same military armor with a different paint scheme, completely labeled as a wey-yu soldier.
maybe the armor is just solid green with a big serial number on the chest plate and some non lethal shock weapon.
just my two cents, that was long winded, sorry.
