The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

*Despite this being about an airsoft gun, I posted to the regular ready line since I consider it more a "replica" of an item from the Sulaco's armoury more than anything that is to be used for actual airsoft.*

It seems I am damn near in full blown "build the armory" mode. I wanted an accurate SA80 (L85A1) for a while now and finally tracked one down. I had a devil of a time finding the correct older L85-A1. Most of what is out now is the newer style with the newer optics/scope.

I finally found something that called itself the "HFC model 202" on evike. It makes no specific reference to the fact it is an L85A1, but luckily the website itself attached the keyword crossover. Amazon also sells this HFC-202, but its more expensive there.

As for the review...it is about what you would expect of an all plastic, single shot (spring powered) airsoft. For its size and at that price, you shouldn't expect much but this seemed especially rough to me as the top cover popped off in my hands and the screw for the grip was cross-threaded from the factory resulting in a loose and wobbly handle. The vast majority of knobs dont actually turn/function. Again, for the price that is expected, but is still disappointing.

All that said, if you can't afford to fill your armory with pulse rifles and want a screen accurate prop to fill up the empty slots, this does the job splendidly!

I need to slap some brown bess on these grips and I will be all set.

And for reference, the screen used:

$55 on evike. Used the "FREESHIP" code and no tax. Its a bit more than ebay sometimes has the springer L85s for, but again, they have the 'new' optics on most every other L85 currently being sold.

I searched all over the forum, but could not come up with anyone asking this question:

Why does Simon Atherton have a live-fire L85A1 on the colony set? The first capture (from one of the ALIENS behind the scenes videos) shows him holding the weapon. Later in the short video clip (second capture) he picks up a cartridge magazine (obviously 5.56mm) and inspects it. You cannot tell in the image, but in the video clip you can see blank cartridges in the magazine. Any ideas?

Since no shots are fired by any weapon in that scene I would say that is very strange.

On the set of the Exorcist William Friedkin would have ahotguns go off behind walls to elicite genuine reactions. Could Cameron have done the same?
