As some of you know, the SuperSwitch alarm that the base of the shoulder lamp was made from is also used (unaltered) as set dressing in Hadley's Hope. Look just to the left of Drake's eyepiece for a glimpse of one:

For Last Flight of the Freya 7 I mocked one up as an easter egg for eagle-eyed fans:

The top and membrane were vintage pieces from Noble, but the bottom was just fabricated from plastic and a piece of a window shade. Now, with Spat's help, I'm finishing this wall hanger off properly with a resin cast of an original to add to my display.

And so here is my recreation of the original:

I gave it some light weathering to bring out the details and give it a little character. I figure everything on Acheron is a bit grimy, right?

Thanks again to Noble and Spat. From here I plan to use the SuperSwitch to guesstimate the size of the other items on the wall outside Ops and eventually mock up that whole section.

It's the door opener!

In the (Special Edition) scene where Ripley travels to Operations as the Sentry Guns begin to fire, she walks up and presses a button on the box to open the door! It is silly, but I'm happy to have a defined use for this set dressing. I've spotted at least four in the colony, all next to doorways.

Oh man you've got to be kidding...LOL!!!!

Not that I'm saying there's anything wrong, it's just funny that you brought it up, I said "get the toy" and you've already got one on the way. :)

So which version did you get? The RadioShack version, Original Hasbro version, a knock-off?

I found an Astro Magnum for $8 on eBay so I couldn't pass it up. It is the right color so it may be the one they went with in the film (as opposed to a real Transformers toy).

I'll post pictures once it arrives!

That's great Retro!

I wonder how prevalent the originals were versus the knock-offs in England at that time. All I remember seeing as a kid here in the states were the originals, but I was a kid and not really keeping track of such things.

The guy was selling it for so little money because it no longer lights up or makes sound... perfect for my needs!

I've started doing more research on how this thing was attached, and I have some interesting findings to share soon. Also, the arms were positioned differently when Ripley walks into the MedLab than when she sets off the fire alarm. Maybe the Facehuggers moved them... ;)

Thanks Moosh! My collection only exists because of THIS FORUM. I can't overstate what a blessing this community has been for this old geek. In that photo there's stuff from Schotti, Chef, Spat, Noble, Corsasri, SpaceJockey, you, Bigbisont, and tons of others. I am proud of all the stuff I've hand made, but it was based on the research others had shared on here.

I'll post some more info on the Shockwave mount later today!

Sorry for the crude quality of this picture, maybe SOMEBODY )(cough, *Moosh*) could provide me with clearer shots :)

So the toy is upside down, attached by the handle to a pipe that goes up and then bends 90 degrees to angle back towards the ceiling mount. Other stuff including dentist's lights (?) are all mounted on the same central hub on the ceiling. The pipe has a pair of stripes on it, and ends in a cap that is wider at the base (like an upside down ice cream "kiddie cone") to match up with the gun handle. This is where things get interesting. There is some sort of rounded piece here that has an O ring on one side, and a clamp that is actually gripping the gun handle. It may actually be one of those claws for short people who need to reach things off high shelves. It looks narrower than the plastic kids' toy version. The base of the gun handle has some open cavities, so I am assuming this is where the gun is actually attached.

My screen shot shows the "curved" pose the robot's arms are in when Ripley brings Newt in for her nap. Later they are straight out during the Facehugger attack (see below). I'm not sure which way I like better honestly!

If you look at the Transformer on the left (not the one that is circled) you can see the clamps gripping the gun handle quite clearly! Is the rounded part actually a wheel?

Any thoughts/suggestions/screencaps welcome!

I haven't edited these (brightness, sharpness, etc), I preserved their size but have to save as JPEG to upload here so resolution might not be as good

Colour coded (each of the 3 toys has either Red, Green or Blue dot) and pictures numbered for easy reference during discussion.

Don't think it's an O ring Retro.
If you look at pic 6 from Moosh, to me it looks like a wall vent or something in the room outside the window.

Thanks man, I think you're right about that. I'm glad I didn't start the build yet!

With streaming as easy/cheap as it is now perhaps we can have a q&a with one of the set builders...
