The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So, I am looking to make my Matrix airsoft PR emit sound, would anyone have any ideas or pointers on how to do this exactly?
Hoping to get it done by next DragonCon so it'll be ready for the colony sweep.

The idea that I had was using the grenade launcher/shotgun part as a housing for a two-inch speaker, board, and usb battery; yes it'll make the airsoft part of the gun not operable but I didn't buy it to use it for airsofting lol.

I know that Majenko used to sell pulse rifle counter boards that had all sorts of sound output options wired to trigger and grenade pump. mine does but I never wired them up. (not enough space)

Might be worth dropping him a line just in case.

I am working on the same thing for next year. Hopefully others will join in. I also loved Outcry's use of the soundtrack with his kit.

Majenko hasn't been very active at the board lately. This is his eBay store. He currently only has the tiny counter board available. Previously he had a v2 board with sound as well, and is working on an improved v3 but there hasn't been any updates on that for a year or so unfortunately. I'm waiting on v3 availability myself.

you could use a similar setup to what I used in my sentry gun ...
one of these sound boards ...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/200s-USB-MP3-wi ... Sw6wRXAp4X

disconnect the speaker and run it into this mini amplifier...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Mini-Portable-M ... SwTZ1XnqF2

OR

this one i used in my nerf pulse rifle...
http://www.ebay.com/itm/2-10W-Dual-Chan ... XMlDDFrJfA

connect a small speaker, run it off a small 3s lipo battery and your away

;)

Oh nice! I really like this idea, may use it myself since it seems easy-ish to do.
Thanks!

This video shows a very similar setup that I used in my sentry gun.
The sound card output is linked to the amplifiers input to give much higher volume.
this setup has had the buttons replaced by detectors and relays but it should give you some idea of what I mean.

I just came across this Bluetooth speaker called a Buckshot. I'm working on stuffing it into my GL. After taking off the rubber and trimming it a little it should fit. Decent enough sound to be heard. It scared my kids when I played some PR sound effects though it. Now that the holidays are over it is back to project season.

That looks like it could work quite well, I'll have to look into it!

I started putting one of those buckshot speakers into the grenade launcher of my Airsoft Pulse Rifle. For it's size it spits out decent enough sound for my purposes. I had to trim down the edges of both ends of the speaker housing and off some of the protective rubber wrapping.

The inside of the GL required some trimming of the plastic tabs. Pliers rocking back and forth twisted those right out.

I am leaving the metal tube out because it was in the way of the speaker. Unfortunately this will leave the ejection port open but will also provide an opening for the sound to escape. I am leaving the lower loading port cover plate off so that I will have access to the controls. It is a Blue tooth speaker so the play button will be able to play and pause a pulse rifle sound effect from my iPhone that will be safely stashed in my pocket. It could also play they soundtrack too. I am going to wire a short USB charging cable from the speaker to the mag well opening next to where the ammo counter's 9 volt battery sits for easy access to charge it.

Speaking of pulse rifle sounds I wish it was documented/known how they were made so that we could reproduce them and create new high quality samplings of them.

I think James Cameron spent something like 2 days getting it just right.
