The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I already posted my 'new' officer in my other officer gear thread. Shortly after I found an 'open box' female mannequin for just $68 shipped.

After some rearrangement in the old basement and a LOT of fighting with both the mannequin and smartgun, my previously lonely soldier now has some buddies!

Fantastic! That is absolutely the best way to display the SmartGun I'd say. I just worry it will tip over.

I think I need a second Grunt in my display...

Terran, in that last photo I was looking at your grenades. What's the story with the bottom one? The cap is longer and has no stripe. Is there a reason?

Some well placed sandbags would prevent that... and hide the mannequin bases as well. :)

A very real fear! This was the 4th attempt before I finally got it all balanced out. The gun needed its own support because the mannequins waist couldn't handle the weight. I was trying to find a used mic stand to prop the front of the gun up with and found a folding screen backdrop at the local Goodwill for cheap. That is what the gray thing is there in the front.

Oddly enough, I can probably ditch the bases anyways. Years of use on my original mannequin caused the connection between the mannequin leg and base to fail. The connection is there, but it can't tighten anymore, so he is more or less propped against the wall. The officers boots cover that connection point on the other male mannequin, so unless I want to cut a hole in the boots (I don't) or fold them down (I don't) then I can't even hook it up to the base. It is also just propped against the wall. Both those guys are pretty well balenced at least though.

Eventually I'd like to get some kind of floor that looks like the colony grates. Maybe I'll paint the grid design on to some basic gray foam mat or something. When I upgrade the floor, I'll def address the bases better.

Na, no 'good story'. I'm just behind on projects and also lazy. I lost a cap at D*Con and haven't properly replaced it yet. The replacement caps I bought a bag of were all a bit long. I haven't gotten around to trimming it and striping it yet. I also haven't fixed the drum cover on my smartgun that my bro snapped off, the spat racal kit my mother-in-law broke, or the Matsuo S&W my wife dropped! I have a lot to catch up on... (Also a good lesson about letting people borrow your stuff!)

Heathens!! ;)

I see the stand now, but it looks fine.

When I built my display I wanted it to be sturdy and stable, but also not require me to damage my gear. It can be tricky.

Thanks again everyone. Funny this thread got a little bump this week because I just so happen to be looking to expand the sweep a little bit! Updates coming in the next couple weeks I hope.

I'm guessing you'll either be adding a Dropship Pilot mannequin or maybe an OpFor element? Can't wait to see!

Pretty predictable, eh!? Found some pretty sweet deals on mannequins again. I'll be adding two more to the squad. One will def be a pilot, but the other I am undecided on. I can go with the drake-style flack jacket and flame unit look or simply display my 'Service Cs'. Then I'm done. I have to be!

And boom. The new grunts are in place.

-I moved the smartgun rig to the new male mannequin because I wanted to better feature the upgraded Vaz gear on the old female.
-I decided to just leave the smartgun itself on the wall (tipping hazard and space was just prohibitive plus the male's arms arent built for it to look good).
-New female got the pilot gear (with very 'Ferro' specific features now)

Squad of 5 is done, and IM DONE. Part of me wants 1 more mannequin for my 'Service C' gear, but I don't think the room can take it.

I got Bruce Campbell to sign it, so have kept it in the glass 'fishtank bar' along with my Goldstein auto'd pulse, but it does look a bit out of place now with the new location of the case. Will likely have to revisit my ED/AoD display at some point soon.
