The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I have been reading as many topics as possible, and just read through this topic from3 years ago
viewtopic.php?f=8&t=13465

I know Spat is making BDUs, are there other makers available?

Im a big guy so the standard selection of SML doesnt workfor me. If i could find appropriate material i would sew my own.
Iordered some camofabric from Spoonflower, but the colors are off and the pattern is their generic camo pattern.

Input appreciated!

Try out http://www.chefs-creations.co.uk/
He makes BDU's up to your size from a sizing chart.

I ordered one set and am currently waiting for Chef to make it ^^

Correct, Spat and Chef are both currently offering BDU's, but both sellers are very busy so there's a lag.

Thanks guys I appreciate it. This will also help new people who are coming in and looking for the same thing.

I've ordered a ton from Spat, and know Chef from the Pathfinder boards.

I work with a lot of vendors so I know all about the lead times on individual production itemsfor our gear.

Just out of curiosity...
Could you post the photos of the fabric you got from Spoonflower?

Is this the fabric from spoonflower that you're talking about?

Polish desert BDU are quite nice ;)
Durable, they don't fade quickly and are quite functional.

Here in Poland we have plenty of those, and it is such a recognizable pattern that there is no way we could use those to make them look like USCM :D
(btw. there is a law that forbids wearing army uniforms if you're not in active duty but the execution of this law is... Let's say very random :D )

If anyone needs some polish desert camo - PM me as I can arrange some limited amounts be it uniforms or fabric ;)

Jurgen, thanks for your generous offer!

Btw, is the straight pocket bdu shirt avaluable over there, or just the slant pocket type?

I only ask bc the slant pocket type seems to be the only kind I can find nowadays.

The general cut of the army version is with the straight pockets:

Same for woodland and desert uniforms.

The problem with those uniforms is getting the right size in desert camo... But I can ask the army manufactrurer directly if they can make some up to size ;)

The easiest way is to get the fabric and sew by yourself or a tailor, as a 1mx147cm cut costs about 12-15$.

That's good to know. This year was the first time at Dragon Con that I saw someone wearing them and was a little surprised.
Now considering where I'm at now and the people I hang out with I'm trying to get my hands on a pair.

Thanks for the good info

I have a pair of Spat BDU's which I strongly recommend.

Pyros-=> Acceptable camouflage in order of preference for the UACM is:
1. Screen accurate
2. Multicam
3. Polish desert wz93 Pantera pattern

Chopperinator, yes that is the fabric. I bought some to mes with and see how it is, wash multiple times for fade-check, etc. I have never played with printed fabric so I didnt know how the pattern would hold up.

SGM Baldwin, that is good information all the way around. Ive contacted both Spat and Chef.

first post in a LONG time. Working night shift really didnt leave me in a good position to work on much and I got very little sleep over the past three years.

Now I am back to day shift and working to finish my uniform.

I have painted my armor, I am making new leg spats to fit me properly, and I am ordering Multicam for now until I have enough money saved to order Spat BDUs.

If you do order from chef make sure you order larger than you are. His stuff was good quality but was tight on and after two washes was far too small for me. I may have put on weight between wears but not that much.

Spat's actually shrunk up on me quite a bit as well, especially in the shortening of the sleeves. I think that is a pretty common problem and "Order it a bit big" is good advice regardless of seller.

I myself ordered and paid for a set of SPAT's bdus about 2 months ago. Mmmm...maybe three. But I've only just managed to get my measures to him this past week lol There's a lead time of 6 months listed on his website but he did mention that he's having to train up a new seamstress. So the lead might be that much longer. Hopefully not.

Maybe when he's got time he can chime in and explain how the process works for folks. I've been super hapy with his customer service btw.

Cheers

I have two sets of Polish BDUs and a set of Multicams.

I like the Polish BDUs a lot. Ordered them from Military1st - I've done a lot of orders through them and never had a bad experience.

I just picked up a set of Polish Woodlands which I'm planning to use for USCM trooping as well.

ive got a MC shirt in hand and tomorrow Ill order the pants when I get paid. I need to order what fits my hide, and when my hide gets smaller---and I get more cash saved up after this build, Ill order a set of Spats BDUs.

I got a Daniel Kim / Alchemy Arms USCM nametape and some blanks when I met him at a con , and my wife embroidered that with the font tonight. They look great together. I need to get the patches too! Soo much left to buy!
