Post subject:  What colors and how much?

So I am finally get a set of armor later this year and I am assembling the whole thing myself including paint. Ive seen a bunch of threads on here regarding matching colors and what humbrol codes to use but I haven't found a DEFINITIVE "These are the colors that you should use to get as close as possible" post. I really want to get as close as I can to the movies from the humbrol enamel tins.

The second part is... how many of the tins to use for a fun set of armor? They seem small so I figure it has to be quite a few!

Thanks in advance!

I only have the shoulder overs and legs to do and I'm still on my first tin of each colour, it goes a surprisingly long way.
To be safe I would say 2 x green(30), 2 x green black(91), 2 x sand(63), 1 x light grey(147) and 1 x choc (98) that should get it all done with some left over ;)

When I used the Tamiya (sp) close enough paints on my armor, I bought 2 of each color.

Thanks everyone!

How about primer? Not sure how the enamel will react with acrylic primer, or if it even does. Do you all just paint without a primer or do you use a standard aresol primer?

use a spray enamel primer, don't use acrylic.
I used a green tamiya spray that was as close to the humbrol 30 as I could find.

So luckily a local hobby shop caries Humbrol paints. Picked up two of each of 30, 91, 98, and 63 and one 147. It blows my mind how TINY the tins are! These thing really will do a full set of armor?

Pretty sure it's been confirmed the movie sets weren't primed. I don't use primer on mine.
