Did anyone of you have had the problem to repair an old SEIKO PULSEMETER? This is a question in generally...is it possible? Did you collect experience with such a problem?

Mine just seems to have a depleted battery, I can not get the light working. I, too, would appreciate any help.

Maybe more clarification on exactly what the problem is might help?

Hi

When received mine I had to replace the battery.

I found that the round plastic shroud, needs to be just in the right position. This will allow the buttons to depress far enoght thus allowing the contacts to connect

I was just asking myself..how long does a watch made in the 80's work? Is it possible that a digital japanese watch is working my entire life? Seiko doesn't produce any digital watches anymore.... so who is able to repair a watch which was in the 80's cheap and now more than expensive and rare ?

Necro Bump!

I have 2 Pulsemeters, the S229 and the S234

I only paid about $50 each for them. The S229 I suspect has a dead battery and the S234 has a few portions of the digits missing, see mock up photo below:



While searching for replacement parts I came across this site, they apparently offer LCD replacements for Seiko watches. I emailed them using their contact form to ask if they had any screens for my S234 but I haven't heard back. I'm posting this for others to try their luck in emailing or even calling.

Can anyone show how to correctly change the battery and remove the original watch straps? I just bought 5 batteries, they should be here in about a week.

I do know that you have to do a reset after changing the battery. This one had me stumped after I changed the battery. I thought I killed the watch.

An LCD with missing segments, you're pretty much SOL.

Moosh, does the stopwatch function display good?

If so, you can turn it into a good Tracer Wrist Unit.

Youtube tells me it could be that there's poor connection with the contacts, either they're dirty or not touching properly.

Has anyone opened up a Seiko Pulsemeter that far? I'd love to get it fixed but I want to know what I'm getting into before I open it up.

To remove/swap the strap, you just need a tool like this one:

I'm assuming the back of the case needs to come off to get to the pins, I don't even see where you can get to them unless you remove it first.

Spring bars are mini pistons, they are opened with the above tool, or carefully using an x-acto.



Case back is opened using a small screwdriver PH000.

It a takes a 2016 coin battery.


The fluke connection in the youtube is poorly designed. The seiko is not done that way.

Got my batteries in, and replaced the S229 battery!



How does one do this? I still have no power on it.
