The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Just announced, an all Colonial Marines story anthology with a massive list of authors. So cool!

http://www.avpgalaxy.net/2016/05/10/ali ... announced/

Some of the authors are on FB and are clearly big fans of the film. They were arguing over which Marine they wanted to write about most!

It'll be a 2017 release.

Keith has shared some details about his short.

"Called "Deep Background," the story is about a reporter who is embedded with a group of Colonial Marines, and things do not go as planned."

http://kradical.livejournal.com/3097808.html I'll be updating the news post with the info shortly.

I'm really looking forward to this! Some great names attached to this. Kind of surprised not to see a Perry involved though.

This excites me more than any other Aliens novel past or present. I'm so glad they are doing this!

Sweet. We had started a fan film with the same premise last year but it's about time we get more USCM books out there.

Just a reminder this is coming out on April 18th! Support your local bookshop (or use Amazon) and get your copy ordered. I want this thing to sell well enough to warrant a second volume!

I'm looking forward to the story by Larry Correia. I have been burning up his Monster Hunter International series. He is really into guns and hopefully will have some great descriptions of our beloved weapons.

Three stories in and loving it!

No spoilers but there's one familiar face so far and for once it isn't a member of the Ripley clan.

Glad to hear that! I just got back from traveling to find my copy waiting for me. The second section on the back cover already had me ticked off! The bit about Hicks citing 'bughunt' as "kill or be killed" had me fuming!!! That is the opposite of what bug hunt meant! It was clearly a mundane task which stood in stark contrast to a "stand-up fight". That dang line has once again been taken out of context. They are not and never were "Bugs" to the USCM! Stop perpetuating the inaccuracy of the term hollywood/publishers/authors/toy makers/everyone!!!!

Right there with you on the Bug Hunt thing, as well as the misunderstanding of xenomorph, but don't let it ruin the book. I actually wrote the editor when the collection was first announced and sent him some links from here including your Ultimate Personalization Thread. I figured it couldn't hurt to offer a crash course in authenticity, especially after Chris Golden's train wreck of a novel River of Pain.

Couldn`t agree more on that. Started with Bug Hunt, but *SPOILER* already the start of the first story irritated me. The extraterrestial creatures encountered there are tens of metres large. For some reason this felt too fantastic and too grandiose in context of the Alien universe for me. Hope that some stories are okay though. Your impression sounds promising.

There are some clunkers in the middle of this book but Larry's is pure gold. If you like the Colonial Marine Tech Manual than you're gonna love this!

That might have been my favorite story, love how it tied back to the promo stuff from Prometheus

How was Abnett's contribution? Been a fan since reading Necropolis (which, by the way, Peter Jackson totally ripped off in Return of the King) years and years ago.

It's really good. It doesn't feature Giger's xenos OR the Sulaco Marines, so the whole story is a surprise.
