The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hey there outside.
After a few hours of searching, reading, asking and killing coffee infront of my laptop,
i decided to build up the motiontracker from Aliens.

First i want to say a big big THANK you, for those who supported me.
nick-a-tron for helping answers and the motion tracker kit.
An amazing kit, nothing else to say :)
Quarax for the videofiles and for his great, cheap and easy idea for the viewer,
Chef and Harry Harris for their steel-nervs, while reading my questions ;)
Thanx brothers, THATZ what the AL forum Communitiy should be for ever.
But, now enough of flowers, here it is:

While waiting for Nick's kit ( real life comes first ) i found some original parts.
So as the kit was at my garage, i changed some of the kit-parts to the original parts.
The viewer is totaly from original parts. I mounted a MP4 player what now shows the PING monitor.

Some buildup-docu:
I did some sanding on the parts, modified the parts for screws, hollowed the upper main body for electric and to mount a real wire mesh in the front.
frontplate is aluminium.
Paintjob is a little bit too much in workingsteps, but i like the results most.
primer - rim silver - hard high gloss clear coat - army green - acryl black weathering, washing it lightly with breakcleaner,
and matt clear coat again.
i put 2 switches in the handgrip-area, to change between the nakes PING sound and the DETECTION PING sound.
I know its not screen 100% ... but i like it :)

Buildup by myself, used by Basemental Props, my small german fangroup, " with fans for fans"
If anybody is interessted, facebook: https://www.facebook.com/basementalprops2013/?fref=ts

thanx for reading and watching, and i am open for criticism for sure :)

( sorryfor my english ;) )

cheers,
Pino

You mention that you have a working display, do you mind if I ask how you did it? I've been searching for a decent video file for the tracker to use in a mini mp4 player with not much luck so far!

Wow. Simply, wow.

That is an amazing Motion Tracker build. Your skills at layered weathering are beyond measure. It's almost TOO good. ;)

Seriously, you've got MAD painting skills. Good job man!

I just have one thing to say: AMAZING!!

OK, here's a little bit more: I hope one day to approach your level of realism with painting and weathering techniques. I feel my efforts on my own projects up to this point have been rather amateur in comparison, but I really do appreciate the photos you and others have provided on your various projects; it gives me something to shoot for and definitely helps as a reference!

Thanks for sharing!
