Post subject:  Repairs finished

Some of you may have heard one of my shoulder epaulettes broke off round the rivets while I was changing into my armour at the NEC, so with nothing on hand to repair it, I had no choice but to come back home.

I drilled out the rivets on both epaulettes, supeglued the broken piece back into place, then added strips of reinforcing plastic both sides. There was also a split on the backplate on the same side, so I did likewise to that.

I left the reinforcing pieces deliberately rough-shaped, so as to make it look like a home-made repair. All I still need to do is paint them.

I refitted the epaulettes with a thick shoelace threaded through the rivet holes and glued in place inside the backplate, & added small cable ties to stop them slumping sideways. This gives much more flexibility and also has the added bonus of making them sit lower on my shoulders.

I've also finished repairing the pulse rifle I recently acquired cheaply, as it was damaged from having been dropped.

Glad you could repair it!
The battle damage makes it look more real.
Anyway good to know that you are ready for your next drop. :delta:

Were the epaulettes riveted directly to the back plate?, if so that will be the reason why they broke, there supposed to be fixed with 25mm webbing strap

Yes they were Mr C. It's Osmotic's old armour, which I believe he originally got from Spat across the Pond. Kev did say it was something he meant to do but never did, and gave me a link to a mod Spat had posted somewhere on here, detailing exactly the fastening you describe, but like Kev, I never got round to doing it :-) Hopefully, the way I've repaired it means the same thing shouldn't happen again.

The repair you have done does the trick, armour is looking good and the Pulse Rifle to.

Thanks Mr C. I had assumed the laces would be enough, but first time I tried the armour on, the shoulders slumped way to the sides, so adding the small cable ties prevents that, but leaves, hopefully, plenty of flexibility.

Cheeky git :-)

You did tell me the shoulders needed doing as they sat too high, I just didn't get round to doing it.
