Is this a legit account? I honestly am not up on this social tech to verify... but I'm calling BS. Its an evike rifle with a real SPAS GL and lots of AR parts. Guess if it is a legit "concept" it could be worse. At least it is recognizable. It is a bit overdone, but enough of the actual pulse has been retained that I wouldn't fuss too much. The alternative is some radical re-design (which I'm sure some suit is pushing for) that would result in something that will be unrecognizable. |

Oh dear looks like something a newbie airsofter would use when they have spent all there pocket money on cheap Chinese airsoft add-ons. If this is a real photo and the direction the film is going in I'm not going to waste any more time considering watching it. It will probably be worse than resurrection |

It's probably his own personal snow wolf and he's using it for prototyping. Calm your knickers... |

See oblivion rifle. Please to do not stick on current issue items slightly modified or not modified at all. See oblivion rifle or original pulse rifle to see how to properly mix existing items with futuristic elements. I'm ACCD product alum, I'll do it for free! |

Personally I'm not a fan of the Call of Duty rails and accessories. All present day, all unnecessary, spoil the lines IMO. Still, at least it's the same basic weapon. Could be a prototype to gauge reaction, could be Blomkamp's own fanwank for his office wall, I don't know. This is the optic; http://www.sightmark.com/sm14000.html The laser module is a PEQ-15 clone; http://www.eotechinc.com/tactical-light ... ming-laser Flash-hider looks to be an AAC copy; http://www.midwayusa.com/product/284904 ... uctFinding And let's not forget the additions to the carry handle and the new grenade launcher pump grip. (Edited to add ID'd parts) |

I don't think it looks that bad But then a lot of the kit used in the film was more or less current issue at the time |

More than likely no matter how they made it look, people would probably have an issue with it. The PR is just too iconic. |

True. Wondering what the rest of the kit will look like? |

I like the new pump grip, barrel vent (for what you can see of it behind the laser), and the ridges along the carry handle but PLEASE get rid of the attachments and rails! Even the flash hider needs to be dumped. Who in their ever-loving right mind would want to lose that glorious burst of fire??? I still prefer the original 1986 version |

Personal thoughts on this Pros: -better sight than the open groove in the carry handle -classic shape we all love and care for -nicer cage/grip system Cons: -Hate the sight itself, could be a simple red-dot or something sleek -Muzzle flash needs to go ASAP, looks terrible -PEQ box.....it just doesnt fit right on the PR.... If it warrants a laser system, make it intergrated within the rifle itself There are negatives and positives to this image, with the biggest positive being that we still see our classic M41-A, Neil is gonna make sure that the fans of the classic movies are going to be happy. and to those that are worried about the rest of the loadouts, think of the 501st, they have so many different kinds of white/offwhite armor to choose from, just pick the marine version you like, whether it be A2, A:CM or A5. |

Wow, pretty amazing how quickly this design/concept has inspired animosity or near loathing. I don't hate it myself per se, but I do agree that it's a bit over the top and it's just accessories grafted on. Nothing really new or inspiring. And I agree with the general sentiment that the sight/scope is way too big - I really don't care for it either. scoff |

Not loving it (as I'm a purist), but I've always thought, from a practical PoV, there's waaaay too much wasted space / extra stuff going on with the PR - as a military weapon, it's overly big and unwieldy, esp for a bullpup weapon. So, having some of the "negative space" used up with sights etc, etc is a good idea [other than making it even *more* unwieldy Still, being a certified AR hater [but I *still* love Freedom, honest!], my opinion should probably be ignored As a general rule, jamming PEQs, torches, RD sights etc on to a weapon just bores me. |

I think the problem is that those bits that he's wantonly stuck on are just far too obviously 'now'. I mean a PEQ box, Eotech sight etc... They just don't fit. Yes, the original PR was made up of items sourced from the time with a Thompson, SPAS12 cage and all the rest but it was highly modified and encased in a shroud that made it look decidedly unlike anything of it's time. If it needed some form of integrated holo-sight (not that I am convinced it does) then some subtle item could have been custom modelled onto the upper rail to keep that futuristic look about it, the same goes for a 'layzor' (PEQ). Some small alteration to fit something above the barrel in the upper shroud area would have been a small but tasteful detail. As Mel says, the small little details in sharpening up the pump grip and the carry handle, are a nice touch but then are essentially spoilt by whacking a load of 'junk' on it. And before anyone else pulls Aron up on it, it's not technically a bullpup, because it's working action is forward of the trigger group (magazine in front of the trigger), or at least the Thompson is. It's more a carbine (short barrel). But I know what you meant. I agree on the overly big, but then the chunky unwieldiness of it added to that futuristic appeal. What concerns me more is all the 'Fanboy's' on his feed going 'OMG It's amazeballs!'. They need to flush out their headgear! |

Have a feeling, if its legit, that is more a test bed/proof of concept (or even just pissing about, apparently Neil is an airsoft fan). Although the PR is iconic, im not too worried, as I have loved the designs of the weapons in his previous films. And just spitballjng here, but could be just a nice cameo in the film, or if, say Hicks does return,,he uses a PR in an 'old school' thang. |

The new pulse rifle should be less bulky not more everything integrated. I always fancied doing a pulse rifle 20 years on changes like single trigger, ambi controls, Auto grenade launcher (still have manual pump though) reposition counter to back of shroud and an integrated torch in the front of the shroud. |

As the photo was apparently taken in a house and not a prop studio, chances are that this is something he's tinkering with himself. Possibly even to gauge fan reaction. Surely he'll be using WETA again for this film, and aside from the little 'Caution' decal I'm not seeing any signature WETA details. I hope so. |

I thought this film followed on from Aliens. Should it therefore not feature the same kit, for continuity if nothing else? |
