The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The latest shot of Daniels confirms my worst fears: those aren't lights on their shoulders, they are GoPro cameras. There's no attempt whatsoever to hide them or dress them. Even the mounts are straight from the manufacturer. What ever happened to creating a believable future? So far the only hint of art direction in the costuming are the shoes we see in the spore shot. Everything else looks like they took a trip to the mall and then added patches.

Yeah, it's pretty lazy. Scott is slipping.

We don't want the guy in the rubber monster suit to look like he's in a rubber monster suit, but the rest, who cares!

Watched the Meet Walter video released today. Creepy. I always pictured synthetics coming from a factory not that weird medical table honey comb helmet people.

Compared to "Happy Birthday David8" I thought the Walter video was a little blah, but it still had some cool imagery. Are they technicians wearing masks or "Working Joe" style androids?

And now I'm seeing that Hula Girl all over the place! Here she is on a recent Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. episode!

Blimey, is that a Queen's Crest middle top?!? Never thought I'd see that associated with a Ridley Alien film.

I love that the Alien films have never tried to objectify or glamourize the female characters.

That having been said, Daniels is a startlingly real depiction of a woman for a Hollywood film. She honestly looks like she's going through hell.

AM I the only one who recognize that the story of Covenant seems to be exactly the same story like in ALIEN?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lVeWe6FmFg8

ALIEN: Copy & Paste?

Crew on a mission, redirected from route to another destination cause of a distress signal - A.I. and MOTHER knowing about situation - a captain who decides to land on unknown planet - a facehugger (and this time also a kind of new parasite which entered the ear of a crew member) - a kind of "infection" - a guy who asks about the correct quarantine procedures - an alien outbrake - a crew who is dying - a masculine woman who seems to be the heroine of the film.... hmmmm let me think about...

No, I recognized that too. Which makes me wonder how much new material this movie is adding to the ALIEN universe...and how much it's going to devalue the original film.

If this newmovie is going to have the xenomoprh in it, running around killing people, doesn't that kind of take away from the whole experience of the first film? By the time you get through Prometheus and then Covenant, ALIEN isn't really exciting or original anymore. :(

These GoPro "confessional" videos are killing my enthusiasm. The one for Tennessee is especially bad.

i was actually really liking the look of covenant and despite not enjoying prometheus was getting excited about the release however i think Ridley has massively dropped the ball with the weapons as shown in this featurette and might even be a bit of a deal breaker for me. i think it hugely takes away from immersion especially when so much effort has gone into set design.
to me it is the same as making a modern war film set in present day yet arming them all with muzzle loading muskets.
