The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello guys!

All of the units from the first run shipped out and I am working on the remaining ten now. The quantity was controlled by the number of the vintage LED displays that my electronics buddy could source, and the ones he did find were VERY expensive. So this will be the end for quite a while. (or forever).

To clarify:

-The color is now more "Brown Bess".

-The display DOES have the magnifying lens. The LED circuit had to be modified slightly so it would fit, and the lenses had to be machined out of Lexan and hand-polished, but it is more accurate, so we did it.

-The "Range" and "Meters" are now the correct dry-transfer lettering like the original. I had a company in Canada custom-print the DT lettering, so this is now EXACT to the original prop. This all added cost, thus the pretty-high price. But it is essentially a perfect replica now.

Thanks!

Hey Steve,

Sorry - any sales info should be in the Base PX section of the board; here. I've edited your post to reflect this.

Access is granted when you hit a certain post count. Don't know the exact number, but it isn't a big one.

If you have a chance to get one......its the pinnacle of perfection. I got mine years ago, still plugging along fine as I just checked it.

Steve, Could you do a comparison between the old window and the magnified one?

How thick is the magnified lens?

That would be useful to know, Steve, as I still have one of your originals... Might you be able to retro fit an older tube?

Hi Steve, I've just sent SD Studios an email, I may have 5 of the displays, if they are these ones:

HP 5082-7433, 3 DIGIT LED NUMERICAL DISPLAY

I love my new one with the magnified display.

My only gripe is that is painted straight up solid flat black.

I know the real props were BB with a dust spatter of black.

I'm not stupid...

memory
