So, I've been working [slowly] on this –

And then I find THIS –

Genius!
The Vufine a) is smaller then the Eyetop b) is about the same price as an Eyetop c) has a useful video input [HDMI vs Eyetop's RCA] d) doesn't require that massive battery/signal box thingie that the Eyetop does.
Downside is it will probably require the careful cutting of the housing to free the lens so it can be mounted at a more useful angle.

KS campaign here - https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/1991375881/vufine-a-handsfree-wearable-display

Note: I’m in no way affiliated with this KS project (other than now being a backer). This is just a Public Service Announcement :D

Great find. :)

The advantage of the eye toy is the direct support of Composite input e.g. from a pin hole camera.
With the Vufine one would need a Composite to 720 (not full resolution) HDMI.

From the pictures it looks like the Vufine would need due to the battery more space than the eye toy.
Would be interested in seeing the internals to check what is possible here.

Please keep us posted.

Looks ace...

If it does go ahead, maybe you could just ask them to make you one which doesn't have the bend in it.
I'm sure it'll only be a cable in that section anyway, so just get them to leave the cables loose.

My one concern would be the eye relief. In the Smart Gun eyepeice the unit will be much closer to your eye than if on the other sides of a pair of glasses.
Is it still going to work (i.e. will you still be able to focus on it properly) with it being much closer to your eye in this instance.

So what exactly have you used there Aron??

And what's the 'eye toy' you talk of Frank?? Is it like a PS3 one? I thought that was a camera in itself, not a 'view screen'.

@Rob the EyeToy is Show in the First picture.
It has an adjustable lense allowing you to see
a focused picture in front of your eye\glasses.
It takes Standard SD composite video as input
so connecting it to a pal/NTSC Pin hole camera
is easy.
