The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I hope this thread can become a running list of what screen used props have survived the years and, more importantly, where people might go to see them.

The obvious go-to has to be our own Harry Harris. I won't go into much detail about his collection and will leave that to him, if he is so inclined. Obviously his website is a great place to start and it is AWESOME that he does make his collection available to the public with the various events he attends with it.
http://www.harryharris.com/welcome.htm

Another 'hot spot' on the US side of the pond is in Seattle. It seems world renowned 'rich guy' and philanthropist Paul Allen (co-founder of Microsoft and owner of two professional sports teams) seems to be quite the sci-fi fan. He owns several ‘Aliens’ items that are on display at the EMP (Experience Music Project) Museum in Seattle. A buddy of mine was there this weekend and texted me some pics he knew I would appreciate

Among the items present at the EMP Museum are:

-A claimed "screen used" Hicks armor EDITED: NOT SCREEN USED!!! (See Willy's comments below)

-This appears to be the resting place of Ripley's bandolier of grenades that she throwes into the egg room.
For some reason my buddy sent me a pic of the plaque, but not the bandolier! He does say he has the pic, just hasnt sent it. I hope to update this entry as soon as I recieve the pic.

-A "Stunt" pulse rifle! The plaque is a bit vague simply saying it is from Aliens and not declaring it "used" in aliens as the other items indicate, but that may just be splitting vocabulary hairs...

Anyways clearly a "Stunt" or a cast of a stunt that was deteriorating. The 'forward' barrel vent is prominent.

The stock is clearly broken off but there does appear to be a seam line in the broken area and it is very rounded. If that was original it should be flat and sharper at the break. It is awfully clean as well, but again, its been ~30 years and who knows how paint might react to that material over time.

-a 1979 Alien.

This one I wish he took better pics of. Again, the plaque is a bit vague. It is damn awesome though.

Great idea!

Together with the identified items topic this could become very useful.

What about in addition to this a "identified as fake/non screen accurate" topic?
So that at the end we have a list of points to check if there is like the frost BDU in the future
another claim of a possible screen used prop.

BTW: Example: “Aliens Dropship Panel Screen Used Movie Prop ZZE83” offered recently

LOVE IT!

It would be great to provide a resource to the community on high profile items and whether they are "confirmed", "questionable", or "counterfeit".

OK, so the EMP museum pics were only half my motivation to post this.

I just so happened to be visiting my parents in PA when my buddy sent the EMP pics. That motivated me to get off my ass and check out Hollywood Casino which was only 45 mins from my parents house. 4 years ago my cousin texted me some blurry pics with aliens stuff from there.

At Hollywood Casino in PA (near Hershey): ***EDIT: THESE ITEMS HAVE BEEN AUCTIONED OFF BY THE CASINO AND ARE NO LONGER DISPLAYED THERE. SEE POST LATER IN THREAD FOR DETAILS***

-Anyone ever wonder what happened the "Bent stock" pulse rifle last seen at Alien War in London? Look no further!

I took about 4 billion pics.

It has seen its better days. While it almost certainly is not in its original form from Aliens (probably reconstructed from original parts and replacement bits), its current state actually pisses me off quite a bit. I don't expect anyone to do a full blown restoration, but wipe the &*%*%ing rust off it at least!!!!! Clean it and oil it. Grrrr.

I am pretty certain the sling is original
Attachment:
Bent Stock Rifle Sling at HW Casino PA 2a.jpg
Bent Stock Rifle Sling at HW Casino PA 2a.jpg [ 213.07 KiB | Viewed 21525 times ]

Stock, Thompson, vent, and GL parts def look original. Beautiful! Pretty positive the barrel is NOT, though. It was machined down at the front to fit in the vent 'triangle'. Oddly enough, the vent and SPAS cage were WELDED together at 4 points (2 on each side).

Attachment:
Bent Stock Rifle at HW Casino PA 25.jpg

Even seeing the non-original screws and non-accurate rivets holding together replacement blocks and bits, it was still awesome to see it real life. I wanted to touch it so bad! No one was around, and I got up CLOSE many a time, but no security stopped me from leaning over. So cool to know that steel had been through the real thing.

****EDIT: This set is legit. See screen caps on page 2****

Having already read of 4 claimed screen used sets of Hudson armor, I was hesitant to accept this one.
This armor looks the part. Its very nice and no question it is made by Terry English, even if not original

But a few things give me a reason to pause.

The "Death or Glory" skull looks like it may have been a vinyl sticker that is pealing, and not painted. It could just be flaking paint I suppose. Until I see the other 3 sets and/or match it to a screen shot, I will always be hesitant toward it, but it is possible for the breastplate.

No other accessories were present (no grieves, ab bad, webbing of any kind, etc). The body armour and helmet are on the mannequin with many ridiculous added on bits and the helmet is way off to me.
Attachment:
SU Hudson Armor at HW Casino PA 9.jpg

All the tell-tale signs of a Terry English-made reproduction are present. The little thin IR reticle is typical of later TE Reproduction work, the ear defender isnt painted at all, and the hinge for the ear cup portion is set EVEN with the base of the M1 helmet. The real Screen used helmets had a cut out where the ear defender was set up into the M1.

**Edited: Where I previously expressed doubt as the authenticity in this space when posting, I am now sure the body armor is authentic. The helmet I am still certain was added later**

The Hicks armor in Seattle is a Terry English reproduction that was erroneously sold through Profiles in History a few years ago.

There is original Apone armor on display in Vegas:

Great thread (as always), bigbisont! Very informative and great pictures.

That "original Hudson" has some tells from a Terry English replica made after production of the movie, especially that helmet. But the torso armor...that looks like a convincing paintjob for a screen used Hudson set, also the visible strapping and padding REALLY looks the part.

Any history on that set would be really enlightening.

That Hicks armor, though... nah. Nice replica but quite garish in places.

Sadly there's not a lot of armor to see in public, of the 3 Apone sets, one is on display in Vegas, Propstore has another, and the third is with a private collector. All three Hicks' sets are in private hands, one of the Frost sets was on display at Planet Hollywood in DC, another is owned by a collector - a third one was cannibalized and used as sporting equipment if you can believe that. All three Hudson's are accounted for, one by our own Mr. Harris - as are a single Crowe, Wierzbowski, and Dietrich…

I had seen 2 threads on this forum that referenced a set of Crowe armor that met a terrible fate. Seems the person (or company?) in possession of it didn't have room for it, so they tossed it... IN THE TRASH!!!!! :( :(

Craziness.

Having already read of 4 claimed screen used sets of Hudson armor, I am cautious to accept this one. I couldn't match the camo pattern and I can't find the thread where Harry participated in the reunion of all 3 Hudson armor sets. If anyone can locate it, I would love to compare this to see if it is one of the other 2 sets, maybe just changed hands.

So in short, I personally don't buy the armor as screen used. I believe more research on the Breastplate is in order, but the rest including the helmet was tacked on later.

FUN FACT: That mannequin is wearing a screen used belt from GHOSTBUSTERS 2...for some reason.

I know that Vasquez's steadicam arm is in private hands in the UK with a steadicam operator. I pray that one day it may find its way into my hands.

One of many firing thompsons with no grenade launcher, actually. So far I count 5 x unique live fire Thompson Pulse rifles that did not have a full functional GL. There likely was only ever one pulse that had the functional grenade launcher (the 10-hole) and it looks like it may have been dissembled after production only to get slapped back together with a mix-match of parts for the filming of Alien 3.

Lots of long winded analysis of each individual hero can be seen here

Oh, btw. Was that Frost comment in regard to a recent event? I know I had seen this 'screen used' Frost top come up on the PropStore of London website.

I had assumed it was sold to a private collector. Was there an issue with it?

Hey Willie, which Wierzbwoski set is the one that is accounted for? The one worn by Tom Woodruff in the "hicks lives' photoshoot, I am guessing?
