The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

so... he's not in it yet. Man, people have got to stop asking him about it. He takes it well, but how uncomfortable must it be to keep having to dance around the fact that your likeness was used (again) without your permission and still no one has brought you a contract to sign?

Biehn gave permission for his likeness to be used in Alien3 and was paid well for it (if that's what you're referring to). Blomkamp's concept art was neither solicited nor sanctioned by Fox. It's no different fan art, other than the fact it's a means to an end, rather than an end in and of itself.

You might want to check your facts there bub. In the end Michael was paid well for A3, but that's not how it started out.

As for Blamkamp's art, you're missing my point. Including Michael's likeness generated a huge amount of excitement for the film. To then not include him once it is green-lit is really bad form. It isn't "fan art" when you are a successful film director and the commissioned work is billed as pre-production art for a film.

Biehn would've got paid if they'd used his face on the dummy in Alien3, whether they sought his permission beforehand or not. He simply would've threatened legal action, if Raffaella De Laurentis didn't pick up on it. She probably saved Fox a lot of trouble, "bub".

And Blomkamp's work wasn't "commissioned". He did it off his own bat (or he got someone to do it under his direction - don't remember). Fox didn't request him to pitch an Alien film.

But yes it would be pretty poor form to use Biehn/ Hicks in order to generate interest, and then not include him. But that's Hollywood. Tons of concepts never make it to the screen.

Okay, we agree in the end. My real point was just that Michael keeps getting put in an awkward position during interviews and that kinda sucks. I really hope they come through on the promise and hire him back to play Hicks again.

Oh, and I said commissioned because Blomkamp paid an artist to do the pictures, not (as you pointed out) Fox commissioning him.

I think - and I'm just speculating here - that Biehn was his own worst enemy with his alcohol problems way back, and despite him overcoming them, it's still baggage. I remember watching Planet Terror, where he's fantastic, and thinking 'Why doesn't he get any decent work these days?' You'd think at the very least he'd get a spot in an Expendables flick.
