Still unconfirmed that he was the pilot - but it's not looking at all good. Very sad.

Unfortunately it looks like we've lost him. :(

Rip. A great composer lost.

For a score that entirely cannibalises his previous work on Battle Beyond The Stars, and his two Star Trek scores, Aliens still stands up as an brilliant piece. His Star Trek scores are on a par with Goldsmith (twice he followed Goldsmith and produced work on a par with Goldsmith). Apollo 13 is another favourite of mine.

I knew he was a popular composer, but just having a look on Wikipedia and didn't realise quite how prolific he was.

Also considering the issues he had with James Cameron, in terms of time pressure to get the score finished, Aliens owes James Horner a huge debt.

The marine drums rumbling as they got on the ready line will forever be my favourite.

Thank you James. R.I.P.

Tragic loss, what a great talent. His testimonies on the blu-ray documentaries are some of the most honest and insightful.
There are now some very big shoes to fill for Avatar 2-4.

A very sad day indeed.

Thank you James Horner for the great music you have left behind for us to enjoy, over and over again.

Thoughts to his friends and family.

I just heard about this on my local news. I am crushed... James Horner was one of my favorite movie score composers of all time. We are all diminished by his loss, and my thoughts go out to his family.

For those who hadn't heard, the movie composer James Horner died yesterday when his plane crashed in California.

I deliberately didn't post, or even look, in the Ready Line, as it's off-topic for that thread.

His ALIENS score will live on, and he through it. Well, the best die (too) young. :/
