I have been working on the idea of doing two books on ALIEN. The first book would be an oversized book of photos which would have the contact sheets and individual photos, probably limited to black and white book. Use of color restricted to type and background page color -- i.e., the photos placed on a colored background. There would be some text in the book, but the main point of the book would be Penn's photographs. The Working title would be ALIEN: THE PRODUCTION DIARY OF BOB PENN.
While the idea and format of the book comes more from a photography art book format, obviously, an ALIEN book is aimed at ALIEN fans. My question is this -- do you think Alien Isolation gamers would like a book like this?
I really hope he goes ahead with it! It's something I'd love to see!

The 2nd book of ALIEN which I have been dabbling with is a book which would contain not only photos from my archive, but would also include work featuring the cultural impact of ALIEN. For instance, you all know how much I love Dayton Allen's work. I'd like to see a shot from the ALIEN archives adjacent a shot of Dayton's work which corresponds to the archival shot because it's just so frigging great! I mention Dayton's work specifically because I've already asked him, but of course I'd also ask Cinesfx Fred, Adam Savage-Hill, and all of you to participate. Why? Because I believe the ties between fan culture and officially sanctioned creator culture are very narrow. A fan's love is not simply a one sided relationship. A perfect example of this is Fox signing Neil Bloomkamp's on to direct an ALIEN sequel came about because we, on social media, loved his Alien artwork. While we could do a whole book on the cultural impact of ALIEN, that's not what I want to do. I want to put the material in my ALIEN archives into context of today, which means covering ALIEN's impact on our culture. That said, the core of this 2nd book would be the ALIEN photos as well as the ALIEN interviews I did in 1978.
This book would take longer to do because it involves not only the work I have and will write, but the work of others. My question to you fans is this -- what do you think of this book?
