The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Picked these up the other day along with some other odds and sods - i've seen Matsuo's (very different) PR rounds before, but not these.

Very simple lathed rounds, i dig them for the similarity to the grenades but unsure on provenance. Also if they're complete? Hollow tip leads me to think they might be supposed to have a cap or cone.

Anyone know owt? :D

Amo of that type has been made to show how 99 rounds for a Thompson mag would look like.
If you make them out of a thick alu tube that's what you end up with.

Nice items for display.

Kind of difficult to work out what's supposed to be going on with them!

The main thing i like is how they emulate the PR grenades, and as far as i can tell they're supposed to be caseless rounds?

No primer e.t.c, the only thing that weirds me out is the hollow tip.

Really curious where they're from, picked them up alongside a couple grenades and other props from ebay so aye, no clue.

I suppose if you envision the whole thing being the round, that could work. IIRC Daisy (the airgun maker) made an airgun that used caseless .22 rounds that were lead slugs with propellant on the back (the air pressure actually detonated it!) so you could always envision a block of propellant behind and the rim of the case being used to extract in a misfire/unload sitation.

I suppose I always imagine the rounds looking like the traditional caseless design (ie a slug inside solid primer).

If you would add to these rounds a tip that could make them look more caseless.

These have turned out to be kind of fiddly to fit into an airsoft PR mag, which is what i wanted! They roughly double up front-back, i do like how you can feasibly fit 99 in there, but adding in enough to fill all the gaps and look right would add noticeable weight to an already chunky rifle. :(

I'm swapping them out for some nice Matsuo rounds i'm getting in a trade, so will probably put these up for trade soon anyway, but i'm still really curious where they're from? Who did them originally, designed e.t.c. :) I'm sure i've seen them around the internet long before i bought this pack of them.
