The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hello all.

I was able to purchase a reflecta 3002 lamp a while ago. I recently started to take it apart and recreate the look of the actual prop used in the film while leveraging as many of the original parts. Unfortunately, I realize that I may be missing something. Apologies for the photos as I tried to slightly rig it to look like the film prop. Also, it looks like the light itself was completely replaced for the film. In addition, the front plate provided does not match what's on screen.

I am asking for help/advice from forum experts to help with my build, as well as anyone who can provide me with any parts/pieces needed to complete this project.

Thanks all. :-)

Ok, so. I used the screws, nuts, and washers provided with the reflecta. Here is what I have so far. Appreciate hearing from the experts as to what I need to replace next. Thanks in advance.

Maybe this close-up helps.

Remove the outer plate (with the small circular hole) as well, then remove the heads from the screws with a Dremel to only have the threaded bolts left, then use spacers (small rubber rings) and a plate with a hole the size of the reflector bulb head used for the shoulder lamp prop. Chef offers such a plate as a cast part but it does not come with the regular Reflecta lamp afaik. Don't know WHAT that part is originally, would love to find out myself.

Put those rounded chromed corner pieces over the threaded headless bolts, then screw them in place with those metal threaded "caps" with a slot screw drive as seen on my pic. Voilá, accurate lamp!

Thanks OH! Awesome pic. Yes, chef did say that and I plan on getting the parts from him. I didn't know if I was missing anything else while leveraging the original parts.

A few questions:

1. What light bulb do you have in there?
2. Did you have to remove the current bulb guts and replace it with new parts? If so what did you use?
3. When you say rubber rings do you mean grommets?
4. what is the L-Shape arm part that connects the reflecta head to the rest of the alarm box/ body called? Do you know where I can get that part?

Sorry for the questions, just want to make sure I am doing the right thing here!

Thanks in advance for your help mate!

Cheers

Z

1. It's the most fitting LED bulb I found in all nearby stores so far, still not final.
2. Yeah, the original lamp body is almost completely gutted on mine. Just kept the switch intact.
3. I guess so - not an english native speaker so still a bit hazy on technical terms.
4. No clue, again used a cast part from Chef.

Glad I can help a bit.

OH,

How did you paint the chromed corner pieces? Is there an effective way to do it so that the paint doesn't chip of over time? Also. was the original prop painted? What was that color?

According to my reference pics, the corner pieces were painted OD/Bess Brown. And the paint was lightly chipped off. I just spraypainted them, the weathering is mostly natural.

Best seen here on Hudson's lamp:

The rest is black. You can also see the kind of reflector bulb and why mine is inaccurate atm.

BTW: You should already have all the Grommets/rubber washers from the upper part of the lamp.

The corner pieces are BB or on some lamps left unpainted.

When you want the rebuild "the" shoulder lamp you have some options e.g. with/out cable from the end of the alarm switch (extension) box.
