Hey all, Without posting a direct link (in case it breaches the rules of the forum).... There is an ad on eBay for whats described as an original Hicks BDU shirt and pants on offer. Search: Genuine Aliens combat dress Biehns Cpl. Hicks Seller describes having won it quote: "in a competition arranged by a British film magazine back in 1987 or 1988 (if I remember correct it was Films Illustrated)" Does this seem legit to you? The photos in the listing show Bonhams tags An amazing piece if its the genuine article and Im not passing judgement wither way, just really interested in what the experts have to say |

Sounds too good to be true but stranger things have popped up on eBay and been legit. If you are really curious,I'm sure Harry Harris or someone else will pop in with the answer. |

Had a look myself not sure it looks good from the pics but looks like maa 3 pat. I do remember someone posting a similar story on here a few years a go but can't find the thread. |

The set that was on here a few years back and had essentially the same backstory was never ID'd to a specific Marine and was sold to theProp Store. That alone makes this auction highly suspicious. |

Well, I don't have many screen caps of Hicks where the camo pattern is visible, but based on the pattern on the cargo pocket area, I feel safe saying it is not the set he wore in the hive or on the Sulaco (prep scenes nor publicity shots with the squad lined up in various lighting). It doesnt mean it's not legit, just saying so far I haven't found a screen cap match. |

I've contacted the eBay seller to see if I can get anymore details I can see he has already had questions. If anyone on here was one of those; don't be shy - spill |

I'd have to see more paperwork and certification before even putting a penny down. |

Looks like the real deal to me. Camo print has the shifting print error. No repro camo has this error tell. |

Noble wrote: No repro camo has this error tell. They will now. Yeah it looks legit to me too as far as I can see. If the seller can prove the... erm, provenance (sorry) then it's a sure thing I think. Harry |

Noble wrote: Camo print has the shifting print error. No repro camo has this error tell. Back when Spat first announced he was making camo I asked him about that exact thing. He said his would have "a little bit" of it. Sadly that didn't come to pass. I'm still skeptical since the other member here with the similar story won a generic set with no patches. I guess it's hard to prove he hasn't embellished his a bit. |

He quickly got back to me about the eagle patch. He says it's there and will be posting a photo of it on eBay soon. |

Cant wait to see how many thousands this goes for. We should get the images into the archive if they are the real deal. |

Seller has updated more photos but not the eagle patch. he says to email if you want a pic of it. He has updated his item description with: 1: confirmation that the patch is there 2: that he attempted to clean the jacket when he got them due to a stain Will the latter affect the items worth i wonder? Probably not, any costume pieces I have from other movies/tv shows were all dry cleaned before being sent to me. |

I know I was doing the ol' "right-click-save-as" the instant I saw them. bughunt10 wrote: Confirmed; no paperwork unfortunately Here's the picture of the screaming eagle patch. Still looking good? Lack of any paperwork of any kind will always leave a trace of doubt. But nothing he has shown so far looks "off". I'd still feel better if we could match a screen cap to at least some portion of the pattern. |

This thread is doing more to authenticate his sale than anything he provided! SSgt Burton wrote: But... looking at the screencap... why does the underside of the folded up sleeve look solid brown???? Kevin I was thinking about that too. I believe he has his undershirt rolled up with the sleeve. I hate to say it, I pulled that move in highschool a bit |
