It makes complete sense in-universe too. Alan Dean Foster had professional dreamers in the Alien novelization who spent time in cryosleep, having their dreams recorded for entertainment purposes. Prometheus had the visualization of dreams. It makes sense. It's just the whole "it was all a dream" trope is just too cheesy for me. That said, if it's good, I'll be perfectly happy. :)

O man, I had forgotten that aspect of the novelizations. There were some nice touches in there at times.

I appreciate that in some ways it fits the logic of the movies but to be honest if they go with 'it was all a dream' they might as well just retcon it anyway. It amounts to the same thing.

BTW Hicks, you just reminded me of the stupidity of Shaw's dream in Prometheus, which was not actually a dream but a memory. Why not just have David say, 'I've watched your memories.' Who dreams their memories in the third person?

Scientists who think they don't need proof to have a point.

You know, now that I think about it, EVERY Alien movie begins with Ellen Ripley in a state of sleep.

Blomkamp doesn't seem to think this is likely to happen anymore.

Screw you Ridley Scott. What a shame.

I too blame Ridley.

He is like a child who wants his toys back from the younger kids even though he wasn't playing with them. He can't stand that kids were having fun without him, so he commanded everyone to stop and come join the game he is playing now. (even though few had fun with his last game)

I was really looking forward to seeing how Blomkamp would do a Aliens film.

Yeah, I'm really getting tired of Scott's continued mucking about with the franchise...

Isn't this a quote from the original script for Aliens? Wasn't it an ad on the TV?

Might still have hope after all

I believe it's a quote from Blade Runner.

Yup, that's the slogan repeated by the advertising blimp in Blade Runner.

There was a similar phrase used in the WY colony advert, but not quite this wording. Johnny Kennedy has it quoted on his Strange Shapes blog.

But I wonder why NB is quoting it?

Might just be demonstrating his affinity with the forthcoming Blade Runner film?

The chance to begin again in a golden land of opportunity and adventure!!

He replied to a query about the tweet and said it's just because he liked Blade Runner.
