The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Excellent news!
Hoping that they can resurrect the franchise without giving us another Resurrection...

Cheers,
Doug

I am praying the 'suits' just let Blomkamp do his thing with HIS ideas instead of trying to jump in and 'improve' them. But that is probably expecting too much in today's Hollywood. I recall Joss Whedon saying his Resurrection script was unrecognizable after they finished chopping and changing things.

PLEASE suits, just let the man work!

More than likely.

Which if they do, it will make all those A3 haters happy.

That is actually what makes me nervous. From what I have seen so far, which I admit is not much, you couldn't pay me to watch 'chappie'. The previews do not appeal to me at all. I can't help but think of it as "short circuit 3" and the previews lead to me to believe it will be full of cliche "robot that learns to be human" heartfelt moments that will make me wanna puke.

I may just be a heartless jerk though and that said, I'll be rooting for it! Not watching it most likely, but rooting for it because you are right that it can only help things if it is successful.

I just hope, if Sigourney Weaver is back in this movie, we don't end up with another Terminator Genisys.
Not sure what to make of it all so far.

If not then Neill Blomkamp will be the first man to Instagram his way into directing a studion blockbuster.

The article I put the link to just appeared today, and it says the film WILL be made, I thought the other mention was several weeks ago and was a 'might' be made?

The other thread has evolved and contains that info as well. Articles of confirmation have been circulating since last night.
Its all good though, man. Def something to be cautiously optimistic about! ('cautiously' optimistic that it is good, of course)

Great news. Has to be. Fingers crossed it lives up to our high expectations. I love his other work and that he writes his own stories.
But unlike Prometheus, I won't be watching the trailers.

It was confirmed in this thread a few posts ago with a link to the Deadline article announcing it:

Waitaminute......this is all a bit much for me to take in. So you all are telling me they are going to make a sequel to ALIENS in which Hicks is alive and will do away with A3 and Alien:Res.?

Seriously?
