The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Got my carabineer ordered.

Seemingly simple prop; yet, finding the right size, shape and lock style was not so easy. I'm still not sure I have the exact one, but I got tired of looking at the stupid things...

I went with a Stubai (Small) Steel Locking-D Carabiner. It should be good enough. I wanted an aluminum one, but I wasn't happy with size/shape/lock style or PRICE on anything I could find. Apparently, there is a "vintage Carabiner collector" market out there... (And they call ME a freak!)

Anyone have ideas on the "keys" for the other end of the chain? They are never seen on film, but maybe someone has a picture of the prop?

And I'm still appealing for a correct red patch for my jacket. Boots and pants tailoring (which I have started on*) are the only other details left. I'm really trying to hit the details on the head here and the big red patch will be a let down. I don't want to invest 5-600 dollars to have a custom run done.

*I'm removing the rear pockets, and will use that material to make the knee reinforcements. Since the boots are nearly knee-high, they should be enough to give the proper look when the boots are on. But, they won't reach to the bottom of the pants, obviously. I haven't found a material match to add the second wide stretch band to their top, but since it's covered by the belt, I'll keep looking and add it when I can.

Got my carabineer yesterday!

Only the boots, and the pants alteration.

Still waiting on a red patch...

85's hat (recently added to Luis Nostromo's Alien museum in Spain). This came directly from someone involved in the film's production.

Looks like I got pretty close!

But the hat is different and the patch is way off. Not too bad though.

I'm pretty sure NostromoCrew is planning a run of screen-accurate Alien3 patches in the near future.

I am already in the cue for a couple red ones. I haven't seen anything on the black and white ones, but it wouldn't be difficult for him to do.

I had someone reach out on RPF to make them a jacket... I may make a second and let him know when it's ready, as I don't want to be "that guy" holding money and not delivering for whatever reason. I'd rather make it, offer it, and if he doesn't want it, maybe someone else will.

Hey, I’ve been working on these on back burner for my A3 jacket, Had a bunch of them printed. A little hesitant to make a run of the white-on-black or the white-on-white patches... The question is, Is there demand for these if I do go ahead and get a small run done? Using my same design file.

A few details of note:
1. Border in and around the Weyland-Yutani “W” to match the original.
2. Thick white filling in same said “W”. (can’t see the red background)
3. “161” in same font.
4. Connecting thread between each numeral at same location as was with the originals.

My take at the red patch:

It's almost going to be a shame to weather it...

And I definitely want more, so I can do a "gear bag" with a name tape and either the red or black (if you do them!) 161 patch.

These tiny details make such a difference in the way it looks.

THANK YOU Adam!

I've been digging, now that we have a very good hat reference, and I have not yet identified exactly what hat was used for Aaron.

Mine, shown above, is an OG-507. On it's own, it looks convincing, but side by side, it is the completely wrong pattern.

Aaron's bill is more rounded, larger, and lacks top stitching. Also, no vent holes in the cap top. Neither have the "button" often on the top of ball caps.

I have also eliminated the OG-107, which has top stitching on the bill as well as an edge band on the bill. Adam suggested the N-3 cap might be it, but the examples I'm finding have a smaller bill. Otherwise, they do look closer than what I have now, and quite possibly correct with lens distortion taken into account.

Does anyone recognize the base hat? I did the best I could with the images we had, but now I want to get it right.

Thank you!

to anyone on the fence: buy Adam's patches. Now.

I'm collecting reference photos and heading to the seamstress this week...

Currently applying rotational pressure to his arm for some black ones for the hat and my (possible) gear bag project...

Finally brought everything to the seamstress today. About a month and a bunch of money later, I’ll have a jacket.

Hey guys-

If you're interested in an Aaron white turtleneck, perhaps get one of these: CWU-44/P

Also Nomex in case of unexpected explosion.

Thanks!
The name tape spacing is off because the jacket worn on screen must have been smaller than this XL one. I have much more space between the pocket and button than the screen used one, so the seamstress opened the gap between the tapes slightly.

But the red patch is off the seam a bit, just like the screen used one, and placement of the "bird" is correct too- not easily seen actually, but the screen used is similar.

Coming back around on this…

I was watching A3 tonight, because it’s Thursday. Don’t need any other reason.

Noticed something for the first time: Aaron’s pen! He carried it in the jacket sleeve pocket and takes notes for the warden in one scene, and it is seen in a later scene.

Anyone have an idea what pen it is?

Considering sale of this entire outfit.

The jacket is a bit short for my taste and Adam is working on a Mk. III for me now, that I really prefer the fit of.

So, if interested, let me know. I have all but the boots (which are identified and available) and I did not modify the (brand new) base sweat pants. Honestly, so few even know about the pants I had planned to wear them as-is. But all the other detail bits are there.
