The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

So... not trying to be one of those parents who force-feeds pics of their kids on social media, but had a nifty little costumed weekend and I couldn't resist. My son was invited to a costume party (he chose to wear his 'alien fighter' costume over the 'ninja turtle' one! I was so proud). So rode that momentum into Sunday where we hit up a local event called "Geek Mob" which was like a mini convention.

The armor needed to be reworked a bit. Had to cut the kneck area bigger to account for his growth and had to completely re-do the shin guards. I went with something less 'accurate' but infinitely more comfortable for him. Of course this time he had his pulse.

Pretty funny at the costume party to see Hicks fighting captain america and running around a bunch of Disney princesses. The armor was actually pretty comfortable as he didnt want to take it off even when playing in the bouncy house (minus helmet and weapons of course).

At the "Geek Mob" event I joined him in costume. I entered him into the kids costume contest and he got 1st place.

A well deserved 1st place. Glad to hear that you two had a great time.

***3+ years later****

Been a while since I have updated this thread. The family still comes with me to events and with the little ones growing like weeds, there has been quite a bit of work done to my son's, and now daughter's, gear.

My son is now on his 3rd set of armor actually. Oh how they grow!!!

Method of build was pretty much the same as the first. The only exception is that he has discovered the comfort of a racal headset, as it compares to a helmet, and is now fully embraces the "ops battle" hicks look.

I have tried to ease my daughter into the family fun with 'soft' costumes. First I tried to make her 'Newt'. She cried because her 'clothes were broken'.
The next event I tried to let her be Ripley, but she kept pulling the grenades off the webbing I made her and became frustrated that the gun I gave her as a prop did not fire the grenades she kept pulling apart. Yeah...she may yet still be a bit young for this game!

All the same, I am trying a 3rd time hoping to piggy back her general desire to copy everything her brother does by letting her wear his first set of armor.
Another "trick" I am trying in order to get her on board is letting her pick the grafitti. So behold!...a repaint.
(anyone with kids into "Paw Patrol"? Skye is her favorite  )

Looks like your little family Business is growing.
Good to see you keep them all involved! Wish you all have a great time at the cons.

I have your large armor in the picture. looks a lot different now. just have to figure out how to shrink the file size so i can attach a pic. I'm gonna reference this thread and some of your other threads when I build my nephew a set of armor. I'm gona be showing him ALIENS for the first time very soon.
