Hi AL folks,

Some of you may know that I worked on a little piece if fan-fiction titled Aliens: Origin. With this story largely done and it currently being edited, I’ve started notes on another story set within the Alien universe.

Before I went too far with the concept, I want to see whether franchise fans would find it interesting. I’ve tentatively titled it Lacerta, and it has its origins in the Lacerta Plague outbreak reference by Call in A:R. It is designed to standalone from the rest of the universe and there are no Xeno’s at all.

Overview:
Once a bountiful and highly populated planet, everything changes on Lacerta Prime when a mutagenic plague is accidentally released. The Lacerta Plague is in fact an Engineers bio-weapon found in a subterranean temple that is unleashed on the millions on inhabitants that call Lacerta Prime home. It turns those who contract the plague into homicidal and irrational mutants, much like scaled down version of Fifield in Prometheus. It was designed to drop on a populace as WMD and that the exposed civilianisation would implode during the bloodthirsty chaos that would ensue.

Fast-forward 15 years later and a battalion of marines are stuck on the planet behind the sturdy walls of Fort Conrad. While immunised, they are still a quarantine threat and are unable to leave Lacerta Prime due to fear of spreading the plague. The story follows a squad of marines whose primary responsibility is to go beyond the safety of the walls and its auto-turrets to scavenge and gather intelligence. During one such mission they discover the mutants are beginning to organise behind a self-proclaimed messiah. This messiah has united clans on the promise that humans need to be eradicated and he has an army ready to march on the marine base.

The only thing standing between that plague army of thousand and the marines at Fort Conrad is this squad of marines and small township of hybrids.

So that is my most recent idea that I have. A mishmash of The Magnificent Seven, Mad Max, and 28 Days Later with APCs, Dropships, Pulse Rifles, and Colonial Marines. Basically we are talking about USCM is post-apocalyptic setting using aging equipment to fight an emerging and extremely dangerous threat.

While more of a spin-off, would that be something that would appeal to you franchise fans?
