Looking for a Newt head for my daughters costume, I gave ID'ing this thing the ol 'college try'. When ID'ing "Casey", I think there are 4 important, and moderately unique features. Attachment: Casey the doll head.jpg [ 45.7 KiB | Viewed 2759 times ] 1. Blond rooted hair. Obvious, but still important. 2. The "sleepy" eyes. We know her eyelids close when the head is horizontal. This feature is clear from the seen when Casey sinks into the water. 3. A neck. Many dolls have the neck molded to the torso and the joint is between the neck and head. Not Casey. Her head has the molded on neck so the joint is between the torso and neck. 4. Closed mouth! This is actually a HUGE identifier. It seems to me that a large percentage of dolls are built to accept a toy bottle, toy pacifier, or otherwise feature an open mouth laughing sculpt. NOT CASEY. I daresay it is pretty rare for one of these types of baby dolls to have a closed mouth. So knowing those things, I scanned around and found two decent candidates that fill all 4 criteria. This one has the wrong shaped neck and is far too small. It is only about 3" tall. It is perfect for my daughter's newt costume though, as she is not yet 1. So the undersized status works in this case. Just not "the one". The neck was not visible as the auction was for the complete doll. Turns out the neck is also wrong and not long enough. The lips are not "pink" enough (but that could have been added later on set to make them look better in the water scene). Time to throw this in the incinerator before it comes to life, reattaches itself to its body and hunts my family. |
