The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

BTW: How do you plan to store & transport the M56A2 once its ready?
Might be great to start a M56A2 case topic. :)

That's a great question...I will tackle that task when I get further along. I'm crafty - I'll come up with something. Plus, there's plenty of room in the back of the Ecto-1! 8)

I've been using an SKB 88-key keyboard case, because I couldn't find a Pelican that was both long enough for the smartgun AND deep enough to actually close on it without getting blocked by the forward grip post. There's plenty of options that give you one or the other... not so much on both, though.

If yours will be able to disassemble like Matt's current version 2 resin kit, the Pelican "Storm iM3220" case is juuuuuuust right.

Thanks Sean!
I had to see it with my own eyes, but yes for certain M56 builds the Pelican case works (great).
If you have a single piece build plus the AirSoft trigger part (still) looking out at the bottum of the trigger cover even my flight case wasn't high enough anymore.

Pictures from my "slightly" larger BW Munition case will follow soon.
Enough Space to support 2 perhaps 3 M56.

Well, a marine ain't a marine without these:

My tags came from Armourer...and they are awesome (as most of you already know). I'M GETTING MORE AND MORE PUMPED ABOUT THIS PROJECT EVERY DAY.

Can you blame me? Yeah, I just wanted to share a few screen caps that I pulled to help get the steadicam arms identified and parts sourced.

See some of you in a little over a week in Atlanta - look for the small Ghostbuster dude with a Toronto Blue Jays cap on...or Rick 'Wild Thing' Vaughn from Major League.

Hmm...well considering how bad I am at making eta's with my Ecto-1 build, I'm not really sure. I'd like to really get into the actual gun modification in November if certain things in my professional life fall into place. My guess is that I wrap it up in time for Dragon Con next year (that would likely be its debut).

I should have an update today ;c) . Oh, and I met a few of you guys over the past weekend at Dragon Con (super nice guys, that's for sure). I was hoping to meet quite a few more but I suppose next year will be a good chance for me to get acquainted...CAN'T WAIT.

Alright, so when I got home from Dragon Con, I was expecting a package. Well, it wasn't waiting for me as I had hoped. Fortunately, yesterday this showed up at my door...

Image

What was inside was something super awesome (of course)...

Image

My second steadicam vest! This one is a lot more accurate than the other I have (mainly because most of the leather work is black as it should be instead of tan...regardless, the tan leather parts will be dyed to black).

Here you can see the quick-release mechanism:

Image

This will look a lot prettier with my steadicam arm mounted:

Image

Yep, I love it!

Image

This vest will be used for my Vasquez smartgun setup. The one that I already had acquired will be used for Drake's setup when I get around to that sometime next year.

Man, this stuff is expensive!

If I may be so forward, where did you get two 3A vests? I finally gave up and had to convert another vest over by cutting leather, etc....

I got lucky and responded to a classified from 2010 from a gentleman in the UK who was selling one. He didn't have it, but he hooked me into this forum:

http://www.steadicamforum.com/

From making a few friends there I was directed to post a request on a Facebook steadicam market group page (if anyone reading this that wants to friend me on Facebook can find me: Adam Marish). From that I got responses from two people and they are the ones I got my vests from. There was another I had tracked down in New Zealand but it was in pretty rough shape and I have not heard back from the owner after inquiring about it a while ago.

Great!
Can you make a picture from left back part where the shoulder lamp would be mounted on?

I actually want to review the area where the shoulder lamp attaches because it does not simply connect the way it does on the other USCM armor. It looks like it may just be a flap of the vest (I haven't tried on the vest to see how the flaps sit on my back). Either way, there's a piece the sticks back that the lamp is mounted to and I can see there are two screws or something else in it, which would help me figure out if it were the actual vest or an added piece:

I'm not sure if anyone has addressed this on the forum before or if anyone even cared to notice, but the lamp clearly is not just mounted to the back of the vest if the vest is buckled up in the back (I doubt that the piece is meant to hang back like it is on screen where the lamp attaches).

Yes, the shoulder lamp is not directly mounted to the vest.
It is connected/screwed to a plate that is somehow connected to the vest.
BTW: The lamp does seam to be connected not just by screws on the end of the lamp/plate, but also on or near the handle.

I few Operators on the forum did their approach on this topic, but
so far I haven't seen a clear picture on how this was done for the movie.

I'm fairly sure (from the pattern of wear on the paintwork) that I have Vasquez's shoulder lamp, which I was given by John Gorman when I worked on Alien War London. The handle has a hole through it that corresponds to what you're talking about here.

That is what mine is too, a "spring board". I just cut up a piece of sheet metal and attached it thru two holes in my leather modified vest. It feels weird and off balance when wearing it. Most of the time I just leave the lamp off, and put my face hugger on where the lamp would go, to help ID me as a colonial marine (Aliens). I intend to try again with a new piece of leather, maybe one that is 10oz thickness.

Thanks for the clarification Harry.

Can you see other areas where they might have screwed on the lamp to "a plate“, which was then mounted on the vest?

Looking at the screenshots it seems that the standard bracket at the end of the lamp body was used to connect the lamp.
No clear indication that the screw on the right side of the lamp was used; but then again hard to tell from the pictures I have.

It would be great to know the exact location of the hole on the handle and a clear picture from the side and back,
but so far no luck with stop motion on my side.

No, apart from the hole in the handle there's nothing different.

I'd say that looking at your screen captures it's pretty clear that the bottom bracket was used, with a bolt or screw through the lamp handle. It definitely doesn't look like the side fixing was used.

Here's a photo showing the hole, I hope it's useful.
