The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Back in Feb? March? I did some posts about how I used the breast plate and arm socket from a CinCity vest and converted it over to a cloned 3A Vest. The clones vest seemed to work just fine for a Sunday afternoon con patrol, but for something intense like DragonCon, I would feel better if I got some thicker leather (10 oz +) and sew some of the plastic sheets to the inside, but that will take a heavier duty sewing machine than I have access to at the moment. This path would get you pretty close to a 3A vest. The CinCity arm can be made to look pretty close to a 3A arm too with some non-functional fairings.

Well guys, my searching for parts continues. I have gotten word that my Vasquez steadicam arm is just about complete. My quest for a real Model III vest continues and I've got a lead onto one that may be what I need. I am finding that becoming a screen-accurate USCM is a pain in the rear to the max. Fortunately, Ghostbusters props are equally challenging in certain ways if you want screen accuracy, so I am not easily discouraged.

One of my buddies from the GB community is also involved here (Nick-a-tron). The guy has been an integral part of my project so far. He has been awesome enough to send me these:

Image

A set of Noble's screen-printed patches...I AM ECSTATIC!

I have also acquired one of Matsuo's shoulder lamp kits.

I very nearly came into possession of a Superswitch intruder alarm not that long ago (I assume that someone on here ended up with it). I'm going to keep my eyes peeled for the real parts...definitely a shot in the dark to find the Superswitch, but even more so to find the Technisub Vega lamp (a pipedream). Hell, I'm even having trouble finding a Reflecta 3002. A couple of them were up for sale recently but my friend who I allowed to be in control of acquiring us each one ended up only getting one...so he made out and I'm screwed for the time being (bollox!).

And, as you all know, finding the correct jungle boots is like placing an internal jugular vein central IV in a patient who has vascular disease (a major pain in the ass).

Oh, but I did manage to source a third set of kawasaki AR-125 footpegs (go me!) and also found this awesome piece of artwork:

Image

I'll be back with an update soon...I hope!

- Adam

I would probably need a 10.5 or size 11 US or like a 9.5 or 10 UK - but I may be wrong...not sure if they tend to run big or small. There is a set I found but they are so badly scuffed up I can't salvage them. It's a shame too, they even have the correct sole.

Hey guys, some more stuff has come my way. First and foremost:

Image

Spat's BDUs...I was so pumped to finally get these. I ordered them months ago and they were well worth the way. Funny enough, Spat accidentally sent me some other person's BDUs initially and the person was huge...you should have seen me pull those pants out of the package. Anyway, these fit very nice...a little baggy, but just right. I'll be ordering more. And, since Spat is a standup guy, he sent me some of these as a token of his apology for the mixup:

Image

Now, I'm currently acquiring parts needed for the smartcam headset. Fortunately, as I've shown, I've got the hardest part to find (the Beyerdynamic HM560). Well, I've gotten some more important parts for my eventual headset build:

Image
My Vivitar 2500 piece. Pretty sad that I only need such a small part from this...oh well!

Image
G1 Megatron scope parts needed! Thank god I found these pieces separate because I didn't want to spend $150 plus for a complete Megatron.

As an aside, my Hot Toys collection has grown too...

Image

Image

That's the super rare repaint version. Now all I need is the power loader set and I'm good...I just wish they'd make Gorman, Bishop, and Frost.

Another super awesome piece is on its way to me as we speak too. Also, I've gotten multiples of most of the headset pieces (aside from the HM560 and Olympus piece) with the intent of building 2 headsets...since, as I've stated, I plan on having two M56's. It's funny, I was hoping to have one of my buddies don my second smartgun setup when I have the spare, but considering how much money the steadicam stuff is going to cost I don't think that will be something I'll be willing to do.

Take care guys!

Man you are lucky finding all the real parts. and wth the flash hold onto it. yes the headset takes a small thing off it but there are a few parts on it that you use for the Motion tracker jsut a heads up.

Oh, I'm aware it's also needed for the motion tracker...I was going to hold onto it in case I ever felt compelled to make one of those...or I'll let my buddy have the pieces needed as I'm pretty sure he definitely will attempt a build.

Haha, you guys have nothing to fear...I'm aware it has more use than just for what I'm using it for...haha. I'd love a motion tracker, but I'd want one built out of a Kango drill with all of the legit parts, and I've accepted that that's never going to happen.

Yes, I do actually, which pleases me...I check that regularly. This forum is awesome - I just refused to join it until I had a reason to do so. Thank god for this, as the Ghostbusters community has fizzled a bit and I've made all of the friends I'm going to make there. Hopefully I can meet some awesome new people through this (seems that I already sort of have...well, online at least).

Just a quick update...

Something I've been looking for has finally come my way:

Image

I've got an even bigger acquisition expected on Monday or Tuesday and I can't wait for it arrive. I'm very excited to actually get to work on the headset / shoulder lamp once the middle of August gets here. I am still in search of a real MG42 or at least something much better than the airsoft version I've got.

Noble,

THANK YOU! The Ecto is my baby...I'm just happy that people who aren't die-hard Ghostbusters fans can still appreciate the ridiculous amount of work going into it.

On another note, if one of your Kango drills ever became available... ... ... Haha, just kidding - like I said, I'd love one but only if it was all original parts, and I can't expect that to be possible. It's bad enough trying to do the shoulder lamp.

Hey guys,

That "bigger acquisition" arrived as expected...

Image

Image

Image

I finally found a Cinema Products Model III vest. This needs some accuratizing or accurizing...you know what I mean. Fortunately, it's in terrific shape and it shouldn't be too hard to dye the backing leather black and remove the front clips above the CP logo that aren't meant to be there (seen in the third pic). It has new pads and the quick release mechanism as seen on screen when Drake is ditching his gun during the retreat. I am also thrilled to say that I have a lead on another one of these that is all black and looks to be in terrific shape. Hopefully I can snag that one as well.

Cheers!

The vest lucks great. Congratulations!
Keeping fingers crossed that you can progress at this speed and level of quality.
It would be nice if you could share more details pictures of the vest.

I am willing to provide any reference photos you may want. I have found another one of these vests and that one would actually need less modification, so I'm just waiting to hear back on how to complete that transaction. If anything, that would probably be the vest to take photos of. Either way, my plan of having two M56's is coming to fruition and I'm freaking excited beyond belief!

Hello again my friends. My new buddy above just came (hahaha) in response to this:

Image

Image

Image

What you see there is an exact replica of Vasquez's steadicam arm. Again, this is being built by the mastermind who designed the arm in the 80's and built all of them. He has sourced parts from all over - here in Pennsylvania (small world), Utah, California, and even Brazil (I believe some may be from the UK as well). Finding all of the vintage parts has been a tough process that only he could probably make happen. I LOVE MY STEADICAM ARM. This is NOT cheap as I've said...I'm making a down payment on it this week...it's about 90% complete.

I hope you guys dig it as much as I do...I know Outcry does and I'll be happy when I eventually let him try on all of the gear.

- Adam
