The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

The more time I spend in this forum more jealous put me, your costumes are amazing, so I begin now with mine and I do not want to wait more time, I want to be a colonial marine in that I've always wanted even before entering the 501st.
But I need your help because you are veteran teachers.
More or less I have already made my list of parts that I want, but not if the sellers are reliable or if their work is good or if there are better parts.
I would like to start with the armor, from what I've read three manufacturers are recommended. What armor kit recommend me?
So many thanks to all in advance for your help.

Sorry for the English, I'm using translator :) but I think you understand what I mean.

It really depends on your budget and how accurate you want to be buddy :-)

There are four options in regarde to your armour

1) make your own using pepkura files
2) Seek out Spat as he is pretty much a one stop shop for all things Marine costume related
3) seek out Chef who can provide the armour and a few of the accessories
4) Seek out Terry English and get the real deal armour

Each one of these options have certain benefits and its easier for you to contact each person to see what best suits your needs and most important of all your wallet.

Ideally you need to have a rough idea of the type of marine look you want to go for (Grunt, lieutenant, drop pilot etc etc)

There is plenty of information here on the boards about all the movie accurate stuff and the Expanded universe uniforms.

The project is as easy or as hard as you choose to make it but either way once you go Marine you soon forget all that Star Wars business ;-)

Any help you need give us a shout

Cheers

Coop

Cooper Thanks for the response, your information I was able to answer some questions.
I want a normal marine with M41A, maybe Sergeant, I do not base it on any character in the movie I want to create my own character.

Knew those three manufacturers of quality armor but what do you think is more like the original movie quality and which less?

After watching this and other web I see that armor and PR can be improved. over time may improve some detail.

I am very excited about this project but I do not like to forget the 501st especially for the work we do helping children and charitable associations but you are right when I have my armor and my M41A will be AMAZING XDD Thanks for everything

I would like to say Terry English is the most accurate armor since he created it, but I think even he has made small changes to it over the years.

Spat's is very accurate and affordable. I've never seen Chef's armor, so I can't really say anything about his.

Terry does indeed make small improvements and tweaks to every set of armour he makes - And Chef's is very good, too.
Stew from the Hadrian's Wall crew has a set, and looks badass.

Ive got a set of chefs armour its really great and doesn't have the long waiting time that the spat set has.
Its worth getting a steel helmet if you want a bit more realism. Chef dose all the accessories too.

Right now I'm waiting for Terry budget, if I can not afford armor Terry, I'll have to decide between Spat and Chef but it's hard because you speak highly of both.

Indeed, they are both stand up guys. I have a little of each so I can vouch for the quality of both. Really as long as you don't buy off eBay or Etsy you should be okay. That's where the scam artists are!

Yeah, and whatever you do, do NOT buy from a guy named "Goldenarmor" on eBay.

Well continuing with the theme , wait a few days Terry 's response , response received at the end of his partner Julie and said " Terry charges £ 2,800 for a full set of the Colonial Marine armor . "
I'm sorry Julie admire the work of Terry and I loved Excalibur but I will not pay £ 2.800 for armor :)
Not if the amount is correct . Can you confirm someone with armor Terry?
So after much thought the most likely buy armor and accessories Spat , which was the first I saw.
Although the last suit I bought for 501 Boba Fett was , and just the waiting time was the same 10 months. NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO : (

If you made no changes this is my wish list :

-USCM Marine Armor Costume in Movie With Steel Helmet Camo
-IR Sight ( w / LED)
-Holster
-VP -70 Kit but not if it is better to find a version of airsoft.
-Pulse Rifle Magazine
-M40 Grenades (Silver )
-I'm thinking of buying the Binoculars .

Do any advice? if someone wants to tell me something, here or private , would greatly appreciate it .

Yup, and that is CHEAP coming from Terry.

His suit is just sublime. Yes it's expensive, but it's practically the real thing. Hand crafted out of Aluminium, by the same man that made the originals. It doesn't come any better.
It's like comparing a Formula 1 car to a Peugeot 206.

And it will never depreciate in value either.

I have a set or Terry's armour and it is fantastic. You pay for quality and as the others have said, it comes direct from the original source and will not depreciate.

Having said that both Spat and Chef do great armour too so you have some good options available.

Spats stuff is great, but if you don't want to wait that long for the armour, then you could get the armour from Chef and other bits from Spat.

I never said that the work of terry is bad or been depreciated, is an excellent artist and the best in his work all my respect for members who have armor of yours, I said "I'm not paying £ 2.800 (4654.55 USD) for a armor kit. "
For me I think it's a lot of money for only the armor.
I am sure with Spat armor will be very happy :). is a great artist and very veteran colonial marines and with the price difference I can pay the rest of the outfit.

I wasn't suggesting that you were unimpressed with Terry's armour but merely stating that there is a huge difference in terms of the material and simply that terry made the armour for the films.

But with spat you will not be disappointed either!

I'm thinking about getting a colonial marines outfit too. I'm a fan since my childhood and a few years ago I almost started to build/buy this stuff. But by that time I had just spend about 500 Euro for my Star Wars outfit and the available parts and armors were just to expensive to me. But I love the colonial marines so much, I don't know if that was the right decission. Maybe I start with a pulse rifle and helmet and see if I want to move on then. Building the helmet must be fun.

Bear in mind that Terry's is not a kit, it's made to measure and ready to wear, like a fine suit. 8)

It's also hand beaten aluminium, rather than plastic of other armours, so the cost is justified. :)

Previously members have asked on here how much Terry's armour is and we've always said "second-hand decent car price" to give people an idea how much they need to save. :)

Yeah, get yourself some BDUs and a PR as a good start. :)

Hello again marines.
after analyzing your comments I've decided to purchase armor Chefs for me is my best because I save on shipping and customs:

-Colonial Marine Armour Kit
-Construction of your kit for you to your staff dimensions.
Painting in a screen-accurate camo style.
-Internal Padding of all parts with 3mm Neoprene Armour.
-Abdominal Pads.

And Spat the metal helmet and accessories

USCM Colonial-Marine-Movie Steel Helmet Camo
-Grenade-Black Straps
-Holster
-VP-70-USCM Kit
Sight-IR (w / LED)

Any advice on how to put the accessories? I mean Hand Welder, Pulse Rifle Magazine, Tool Belt

Thank you very much and greetings to all

The Hand welder is usually worn on the belt on some form of lanyard or strap.

Belt tool fixes around either the belt or a drop strap.

Spare magazines?? I don't think people actually carry them.

Oh very very visible. Nothing is left to the imagination, so if you get it, you should show it off!

If an item can be clipped to your webbing, do it. If it doesn't clip, tie it off with para-cord!

EDIT: Exception being "spare magazines". As Chef said, they didnt have those, but many people speculate the larger of the two pouches they wear could have been an ammo pouch. Spares were definitely not visible on screen though.

It's your choice of course, but olive drab straps would be more screen accurate than black ones. Belt tools can be doubled up or trippled up like Frost did! You didn't mention a knife, but that's a visible piece of kit too.
